New to the forum. I have old snow tires from my Toureag 255/55R18 and I’d like to swap them with my current factory LC tires 245/70R18.
Tire rack says it should fit/work but can’t guarantee it. I’d hate to go through the on and off experience/cost unless I’m sure they will work.
Any experiences out there that can confirm this swap will work?

Appreciate it.

That swap will work. The aspect ratio is a bit of a low profile. I have 255/70/18. 255/55/18 will work and if I had winter tires that size with good thread I would use them up too. I can be a miser sometimes.

That swap is a bad idea. I didn't check the tire diameter but going from a 70 aspect ratio to a 55 will be significantly smaller. Not great.

Yes not great but there is no reason why it would not work or cause damage to the vehicle or rims. That 70% is from 245mm whereas the 55% is from 255mm. I would not purchase that size but if I had them from another vehicle I would not hesitate to use them. What kind of damage do you think it would cause if used on the streets?

You are probably correct that it would not damage anything. But it is going from about a 31.5" tall tire to a 29". That will bring slightly higher revs and lower ground clearance. Again, not great.

This is highly likely to damage the vehicle. The wheels will roll at different speeds, which is a minor safety issue, but my bigger concern would be causing more wear on the entire drive system because the axels and differentials are not designed to function that way. Fine in a pinch but I would do that for as few miles as possible.

I’m sorry but
