I was wondering if you guys could help me figure out the best way to make a one sided drawer system for the trunk that is easily removable but anchored in such away that it won’t tip forward when the drawer is out. Have some plans from 4 runner builds including using extra mounting points from a strip of unistrut across the rear to tie down points and turnbuckles. In the LC though the tie down points are no where near as deep in the trunk bay.

Rather not drill through floor and would like to remove for extra space. Other 1/3 is taken up by a removable sleeping platform that I also made.

Anyone build such a removable drawer on only half (or 1/3) of the trunk that they are proud of or can show off for some ideas?

Not really interested in purchasing one as 1. Don’t need it that badly. 2. I enjoy fabricating the stuff myself!

TIA

Learned a lot from everyone hete

I’m slowly finishing the construction of my DIY system, so I’ll let you know next week if this works.

My plan is to use static climbing rope and a Nite Ize CamJam. I’ll attach the rope to the drawers, route it through the floor anchor, and use the CamJam to take out any remaining slack and clip it into the anchor at the rear

I used straps anchored to the OEM hybrid battery mounts. It did require some very small slots be cut into the cargo mat. Details are on my Build page (use the link below)

I was thinking this as well - was trying not to have a rope visible over the top but maybe inevitable. I was thinking I maybe using the 2nd seat rear anchor points with some webbing and anchor the turn buckles to those.

Not an opposed to cutting slots in the floor panel to access bolts but as it is going to be removed not in frequently, rather not put holes in the floor if I can help it. Once I no longer need trunk space for kids stuff etc, and I can more permanent solution - then sky’s the limit!

I would be interested to see how you did this-I can’t see the link. I did check your Build page - it looks like a pretty awesome custom but couldn’t see anchor points.

Not opposed to cutting slats in the floor. Just try not to make any permanent changes. Until I know what system / set up I truly want

I took a piece of flat stock, cut a slot, drilled a hole and bent into a "L" shape. Bolted that to the hybrid battery anchor points (both front and rear). When the bed platform and fridge slide aren't installed the nylon straps just lay flat on the floor. In the winter, I lift the cargo mat and let them lay flat under the mat.

Looks like this may be the solution that I’m looking for - thanks!

Just wanted to post an update for anybody who would be interested in the single drawer system I’m just about done with mine. I used a 16 inch width, 14 inch high box with a pull out drawer on heavy duty sliders.

The only anchor points are on turnbuckles - I attached using pair of chords to the rear seat attachment anchor (when seat is pitched forward.)

Completely removable in a few minutes and very stable with a full load
