Rear Cargo Platform DIY options

In the rear, I used the OEM cargo tie down bolt locations (size M6) and two rivnuts I'd attached to the metal plate over the hybrid battery to attach 1/2" plywood. I attached my fridge slide to the plywood. The cloth covered OEM cargo cover serves as a perfect template for cutting the plywood to fit.

The top plywood looks like it fits nice in the picture. Is the 1/2” level with the rest of the platform? I’m thinking about doing this as a temporary solution for my fridge slide. I just want to make sure the plywood doesn’t stick up to high or low. I don’t need the second row replacement at the moment.

I'd say it's maybe 1-2mm lower than the plastic trim at the back. I'm able to attach my fridge slider to the plywood and it slides in and out with no issues scraping or rubbing on the trim. I think if you used the 1/2" trim and put some automotive carpet on top you'd be just a bit higher than the plastic trim.

I might see if a 3/4" would sit closer. I don't see wrapping it with carpet yet.

The 1/2" is about as close are you going to get I think. If you go with 3/4", I think it might be sticking higher than the plastic. That is not necessarily a problem but it might catch on things as you try to slid them into the cargo area. Just a heads up.

That's a good point. I appreciate the thoughts. I'm looking for 1/2" locally now. I'll share some photos when I'm done.

You could always drive up to Canada and see if the Home Depot there sells plywood measured in MM instead of fractions of an inch. ;)
