Side Mirror defrost/heat

I have the “Land Crusier” edition, rectangle head lights. (Not premium level). My side rear mirrors, I can see the defrost icon in them, but have not been able to see that icon light up, showing they are working. From the manual it talks about rear defrost on, played around but nothing. Any help or direction appreciated

Thanks, as they look like the, “object/car beside you “ icon, just assumed they would lite up in the same way. Why have the dull icon if it does not light up when activated?

However, do not know how to activate the heat that will defrost the backview mirrors. Also failed to turn on my fog lights. Tried many times. Then how can you change the color of the fog lights?

Just press the rear defrost button. Don't wait the mirrors to be extremely hot. They are just warm enough to melt the ice and evaporate rain drops. You can touch them and feel the warmth if the outside temperature is cool enough.

IMO it's just to let a person/mechanic/repairman know they are heated mirrors. It would be so distracting to have that icon lighted up when driving. I like that the BSM icon lights up when there is a vehicle zooming up beside me and go off after they are past the sensor. It catches my attention every time, if they where on all the time, they would soon be ignored.

The mirrors on my 1958 don’t have an icon, as far as I can tell…but on a dewy morning a week or so ago I noticed that they definitely cleared up shortly after I turned on the rear de-fogger…and then just to test it, I turned off the rear de-fogger and they fogged back up again.

I didn’t think the 1958s were equipped with mirror heaters, but now I’m thinking they perhaps they are…?
