Roof Racks vs Car Washes

Shouldn't be any issue, but I hand wash mine.

✨"The Manual" ✨ advises to
  • fold in your side mirrors and
  • turn off automatic windshield wipers.
It's unclear to me if any of the Safety Sense 3 features should be disabled...

Perhaps the sensors don't work in neutral. Seems testable in the garage.

Thanks! Is this the setting that you turned off?

On a related note, have you noticed that the wipers are a bit slow even on the highest setting? I drove at night yesterday with what I'd say is moderate+ rainfall at ~60 MPH and it was hard to see. Maybe it's the upright windshield that gets less of the normal runoff or my eyes getting worse with age, but it was noticeable. Just wondering if anyone else felt the same as compared to other vehicles.

My 2020 Taco does the same thing. Rain X helps a lot!

Thanks for all the responses. That’s great news about turning off the sensors in neutral. It was very annoying in my last car going through car washes. I wonder why they would even default to on in neutral.
