Just sharing a lesson I learned. The rear hatch becomes unresponsive when the rear glass hatch is not fully closed. The glass hatch will look closed, but not be latched. If you try to drive in this condition you get bells and a dash board warning. If the car is off and you didn't close the glass latch fully and then try to use the power opener for the full back hatch it will ding and be unresponsive. Hopes this helps someone. Took me a few minutes to sort it out.
