Hi all! Probably a discussed topic before but I’m currently looking for a roof rack specifically for a rooftop tent. Considering Prinsu’s or Wescott’s.

Anyone have experience with either? Looking to get info on:

-ease of install
-how bad is the wind noise/metal rattle
-if you have a rooftop tent, how was your mounting experience (was it annoying or difficult) + overall experience with either of the racks

Thank you!

If you’re not committed to those two, OEM roof rails allow for very easy mounting. Mine didn’t come with roof rails. I used these aftermarket clones: https://amzn.to/4iDed24

I was considering just using 3-4 crossbars (probably the victory 4x4 ones) and mounting on the OEM rails.

Which crossbars are you using and how is the overhang since the rails only cover like 3/4 of the roof? Any swaying?

I had my tent mounted on crossbars on my previous Mazda CX-50 and had noticeable wind noise. Was also wondering if the wind faring on full racks would help with that.

If you are dead set on a rooftop tent, the factory rack is the way to go. Adding the weight of a rack to add the weight of a tent that blocks the rack is just extra steps and weight with no benefit.

There is a lot to consider with the type of tent and where you want it to sit on the car. If it is heavier, you may want one of the full length racks to move the tent forward on the vehicle.
