I want to highlight key issues regarding the Prado 250: the brake noise problem and dealer transparency.

Firstly, for anyone considering purchasing a brand-new Prado 250, be aware that this vehicle has a manufacturing defect causing brake noise—something the dealer will likely not disclose at the time of sale. Believe me, the noise is not just unpleasant; it can also be embarrassing. Until Toyota provides a proper fix, I strongly advise against purchasing this model.

However, if you still decide to go ahead with the purchase, I highly recommend including a contractual clause stating that if the issue persists, you have the right to return the vehicle for a full refund.

Secondly, as an owner of the Prado 250 who paid full price for the vehicle, I would like to understand whether we, as customers, are entitled to compensation from Toyota or the dealer for failing to disclose this issue at the time of sale. This lack of transparency has impacted the ownership experience, and I believe affected owners deserve a fair resolution.

If anyone has insights or has pursued this matter, please share your experience.

I’ve had the squeal happen but only on reverse and I would love to get confirmation that it’s because of semi-metallic brake pads. Seems like this material is known to squeal but is suitable for truck applications. I bet switching to a different pad material would eliminate the squeal.

It still happens on mine but rarely now in reverse and minimal screech. I am at 7000 miles. It originally only happened occasionally and usually after sitting for awhile. Try a couple hard brakes from 40 down to 10 then repeat.

Yes, they squeal occasionally in reverse after sitting for a few days. The squeal lasts for maybe a second or two.
Is this a deal breaker? Absolutely not. If somebody believes that an occasional brake squeal in reverse is a "serious problem" and more important than long term reliability, safety, performance, he/she are looking at a wrong car.
I'd rather live with an occasional brake squeal than with a rubber wet belt driving the oil pump like Ford, or camshafts that fail after 60k miles like Jeep.
