Just placed order, thanks!I can endorse this product! It takes literally 5 minutes to install, totally plug and play, and comes with the only tool you need. Puts out a very nice floody light that makes the rear area a lot easier to see in the dark. Should have been standard equipment!
It's automatic.Does it turn on/off automatically when you open and close the liftgate? Or does it run by a switch?
What model do you have? Does it work with the 58?I can endorse this product! It takes literally 5 minutes to install, totally plug and play, and comes with the only tool you need. I have an LC LC. I don't know about the 1958.What model do you have? Does it work with the 58?
Also interested in this. If somebody has first hand experience with this kit on a 1958, I would love to hear if this is plug & play. What model do you have? Does it work with the 58?
It always turns on when you open the hatch, but you can turn it off/on by tapping it.Thank you for this, it's a big help!![]()
I have the optional factory-installed liftgate lights, and (amazingly) you cannot turn them off! If the hatch is open, then the lights are on, period! And they do not time-out and turn off like the cargo compartment lights do. This is a major problem for me, as I do a ton of car camping, and I typically have the hatch open for hours at a time.
Please, a quick question about this light -- if you have the hatch open and the light turned off (as I would normally have it during the day), and I then close and and reopen the liftgate, does it remember that I had the light turned off? Or, does the light always turn on when the liftgate is opened, irrespective of whether or not the light was turned on last time around.
The reason I ask is, if the light is ALWAYS on when I open the liftgate, then I have to always remember (in the daytime) to turn the light off if I'm going to leave the liftgate open for a while...
Nah, it really was that simple. Maybe 10 if you include trying to puzzle out the Chinese-only instructions before giving up and just looking at the photos.5 minute install? No way.
i got a similar one off amazon for the same price. Its a bit of a pain in the ass to do on the 1958, but not difficult in any way. Just annoying haha. What model do you have? Does it work with the 58?
Was your tailgate pre-wired? running the cable to the Driver side rear light seems like it would take way longer especially since it shows that you have to run the cable behind the trim and through the rubber tube that connects the tailgate to the back of the cab.
Is there an easier way to connect this without having to remove all the trim?

Correct.I'm confused (certainly not the first time!) I also have a 25 LC LC, so am very interested in this...
You say it's prewired -- are you saying that you did not have to thread the provided cable from the start point (near the jack) up to the roof edge, thru the tube that connects to the liftgate, and from there down the side of the liftgate and over to the light? That wiring was already there?? If so, that would make life much easier!
CorrectWow!!
I understand how this light hooks up if you run the provided wiring harness from the start point near the jack (at the cargo light) -- but I don't understand what you did... Since it was pre-wired, was there a cable with a plug already available for you behind the panel where the new light will install? And then you just plugged this cable into the light, and installed the light in the hole, and you were done??
Thanks!
