2024 LC 250 1958
This my first brand new car. Previously drove a 2006 Infiniti G35X with 250K miles.

Drove the Toyota off the lot in November and immediately took it on a 2,000 mile road trip.

It came equipped with the Nitto Ridge Grappler 265/65/R18 tires and the Predator side steps.

FIRST IMPRESSIONS:
  • Comfortable ride and tall road presence.
  • Throttle feels responsive, snappy, and quick.
  • Averaging 21 MPG on Eco mode.
  • The vehicle is narrow enough to be agile on city streets, parking lots, and on most off-road trails.

OFF-ROAD CAPABILITIES:
  • I've driven a total of 19 miles on moderate to difficult off-road trails. The Land Cruiser has handled steep wet terrain, deep mud, and moderate rocky hills with ease. Only had to engage the center diff and rear lockers to test the system.
  • Despite its mediocre ground clearance, the LC 1958 makes up for it with its excellent articulation. I am enjoying how challenging some obstacles have been given my current set-up, but I will be definitely upgrading to 285/70/R17 tires, replacing the side steps for rock sliders, and installing more robust under carriage protection. Eventually, it will be lifted.

THINGS I WISH WERE BETTER:
  • Ground clearance.
  • Seats lumbar support.
  • Back up camera image quality.
  • Audio system.
In additionally, what I initially thought were imperfections of the headlight fittings, turned out to be a "feature" by design. Check this thread. The consensus is that this patter is designed to enable a wide field of view while the "notches" prevent incoming traffic from being blinded. What causes this appearance is called a cutoff shield inside the headlight assembly.

I have a GSD about the same size as yours. It’s hard for her to get in the rear seat unless I adjust the front seats. She wants none of getting in from the rear. Any tips?

Your LC 1958 looks great and certain you will continue to enjoy it. Appreciate you sharing your adds…especially paint protection film and the rear bumper step. We purchased Katzkin leather upholstery and the local installer enhanced our lumbar bolsters. Thanks for sharing.

The one we have is no longer on Amazon, but it folds flat and offers 2 steps. The top step aligns with the bottom of the rear door sill. A vet advised me years ago it is never too soon to offer large pets easy ingress/egress. If it is not offered our dog gives me a look. Cmon human get me my step. Ramps usually don't offer good traction for nails and had little luck with them.

You can do a few things. Many dogs won't get in the rear second row doors just because I can see light through the other side. Try opening both second row doors at the same time and coax her through using high value treats.

If the opening is still too narrow. You'll have to move the front seat forward in order for her to fit in.


However, you could also open up the rear hatch. The problem with this is that the rear is very high up for many dogs.

In this case you can get a ramp that folds. There are many on Amazon. and have her walk up it. However, most dogs would have to be conditioned to walk on the ramp prior to incline.

You could also consider changing the surface of the ramp if that is uncomfortable for your dog. Yoga mat, grass, turf, carpet etc.

I wills definitely look into the enhanced lumbar bolsters option with a local shop. Thanks for the suggestion!
