New from New Jersey

Hi all, I don’t yet have a Land Cruiser but I’m very interested in getting one. I thought about the Lexus GX but decided for some reason I like the LC better. I currently drive a Hummer EV SUT Edition 1. I feel the Land Cruiser will be more practical daily and will hopefully receive a lot of support from the aftermarket as well as TRD.

I’m looking at a non-first edition at my local dealer. They have two available, one is blue and the other is white. I left a deposit just in case. Hopefully they’ll arrive soon. I was shocked they weren’t ordered by someone.

Looking to learn as I am not only new to the Land Cruiser but Toyota as well.

Welcome to the forum zer0t! I too seriously considered a GX for a spell, but the trend towards hybrids sort of dampened my interest. However, Lexus has indicated a hybrid is in the works, and from all available information, it will be the same hybrid drive train as in the LC. So, going for the Land Cruiser with the Premium Package. It sure sucks that one must take what is allocated to the dealer, versus special ordering color, options, etc. Have you noticed the LC will require premium fuel? Bummer! Nobody beats Toyota for reliability, albeit nobody is at high miles yet on the turbo 4-banger. I think it will be a survivor, and the turbocharger is easily serviceable, versus the twin turbos on the GX.

Oh, sure hope you don't have to pay a dealer markup! For a FE our small local dealer mentioned $10K over. Nope, I walked! However, they, and two other nearby dealers, are now at MSRP. Stand your ground!

I'm in Manasquan, have one coming in from Jersey City dealership at MSRP, hope we can meetup! You getting a mid trim LC or 1958?

I guess it’s a mid trim. It’s a non-first edition with premium package. 18” wheel which I prefer if I keep them. I won’t pay exorbitantly over MsRP. A grand or so if I love it I can do. If not I’ll prob get the Lexus for now. It’s only a bit more and selling at MSRP.

Yeah mine is coming with the 20" and I might swap them out eventually back down to 18". Same with mine, premium package middle LC trim
