Someone PM'ed me asking about releasing the parking brake when the battery went dead.

I had the procedure PDF and sent them a copy. It got me to thinking if a member was out in the boonies and needed their LC towed due to electrical failure....... so I thought I'd post the PDF here as well. Might be something to print and store in the glove box and hopefully never needed.

Electronic parking brake stuck on after doing a wiring project. Did NOT touch any OEM wiring and used a fuse tap in fuse box on a blank Ignition ready fuse. Any ideas? Parking brake stuck on and unable to release, tried everything? Carista or another scanner maybe? Dealer not open until Monday and need a wheel and dolly tow truck as e brake stuck on. Please help! I just saw your above PDF but was maybe hoping if anyone had a computer module issue after a wiring install or some sort of reset.

Again, no OEM wiring was touched, could it be something loose like a connector or just needs a CPU flash?

Are you getting any DTC codes?

I'd try stepping on the brake pedal, start the vehicle, press the "brake Hold" button and see if the icon comes on the dash, then press it again and see if it goes off. If that doesn't work try with the vehicle in neutral.

If the above doesn't work, I'd try disconnecting the neg battery cable and the little black plug on the neg post, wait for 15 min and reconnect. and repeat the above.

(Edit) everything states the battery must be above 11ish volts.

The above didn't work, unhooking negative term now. I did that before but did not do the little plug with it. I pray that works! Thank you so much for trying to help!

No worries, there are two buttons......... "Parking brake" and "Break Hold"

I will try again after 15 min, just bc I'm curious, what is the plug on the neg terminal (boy it was tight to remove that dang thing...finally came off)

That black plug has something to do with the voltage monitoring for the charger. I can't remember exactly what it was, but if that's still hooked up, the DC/DC converter/invertor still has a path to the battery and the Hard reset won't occur.
