LCP offroad tests, checking for 285 tire rub at full flex (video)

I asked Discount to keep the 285 mostly aired down when we tried it, but I didn't visually confirm whether or not they complied. Not sure how much an unloaded tire changes diameter with pressure, I just assumed it might help.
I just went to the Toyo website and saw that the 275 is 33.2" diameter and the 285 is 33.7". Not too much difference and the 275 as spare would work just fine.

My assumption as well, after talking to my local offroad shop. Never used the spare in the 4Runner in 9 years, though I guess I shouldn't type that out loud.

so i bought the trd rims +45 you have ...do you think a slightly larger thread pattern /lug size.... falken RTs 18/32 will rub with 285.....its looked like it was a little more then then your toyos 15/32 and from your other post turning down the mountain pass it looked pretty tight ...I don't mind 275s but the additional clearance would be helpful of the 285....shipping to hawaii is crazy so im trying to get it right

I would guess another 1/4" to 3/8" diameter would fit; it might barely–barely!– rub, but once you had 10k on the tires they'd be fine. If you really want that tire I'd flip that coin; my 4Runner rubbed–barely!–at full lock in some circumstances, and after 9 years of 'rubbing' it never wore through the plastic.

Not sure how much that tire weighs, but I chose the Toyo OC because they were quite a bit lighter than the Falken AT4W.
