JDM Mud Guards with US Fitment

Any idea when the rallyarmour will be out and if they’ll work on a 1958 without modification? I like the JDM, but can’t see spending $400 on mud flaps, especially given replacement cost of damaging them. Also, I looked at a new First Edition over the weekend and rust was starting around the strap brackets on the FE flaps, which turned me even more off the JDM. RokBlokz seems like a good option and are out, but they aren’t made for the 1958 and require modification.
It should be pretty soon. They received what they needed from me, so they can go to market shortly.

Guessing they'll be more expensive than Rokblokz and less expensive than OEM.

As far as stiffness goes I recall Rokblokz being fairly stiff but not like hard plastic mudguards. Then OEM ones and Rally Armor definitely more of a rally style if anyone was wondering.

What is it about the 1958 that is different? Rally Armor will come with the hardware needed if you do not have factory mud flaps. That's the only difference in aware of.

On the metal brackets that hold/mount the support strap.
Hmmm. I’ll keep an eye out.
I have noticed a bit of surface rust on the frame. Pretty standard for a Land Cruiser.

It just says in the product description they will not work on 1958, that it requires modification of the upper mounting points. They went really tall about to the kick out on the OEM fender flare, so I’m guessing that is why. I looked at this too, a FE, LC, and 1958 side by side on a dealer lot this weekend and the OEM LC mud guards are different from the 1958 OEM mud guards, the LC goes up significantly higher. I’m assuming there’s another mounting point in the LC fender flare the 1958 wheel well molding doesn’t have.

As an aside, I just replaced wheel well molding on the drivers front after messing it up and regret not doing all 4 with the LC fender flare, would’ve been about $800.

Just FYI the first 5 sets are being gathered in Japan for those that ordered last week. If you ordered Sunday and beyond (3), I am building another order now.

Thanks to everyone participating in the discussion.

Can't wait to get mine! Thank you for taking on this project.

I almost bought a set last week. I didnt know there was modifications required and I’m lazy! ;)

So yes I’m interested

Hmmm . I'll try again.

I’m in Pennsylvania and we’ve gotten a good bit of snow and ice this winter so far. The state and local governments stupidly over apply insane amounts of road salt, even when it is calling for flurries. My Land Cruiser has a lot of surface rust on it underneath. The shock mounts and shocks are particularly bad for a brand new vehicle. I try to get it off as quickly as possible, but it has been back to back storms all winter, so fruitless.. I really regret not getting it undercoated or doing so myself to have prevented the rust from ever starting as I plan to keep it.

I'll collect orders for a week or so and order try to forecast how many I need.

You can use the above link or add the USDM prep version to cart and use coupon code "lcforum".

Thank you!

For the Rally Armor these may not be the final measurements especially in the rear. I have another rear coming this week that should be able to handle more poke.

@StickerFab a general request on the two kinds of flaps you're working on: if you get a chance could you take photos of the First Edition style and RallyArmor flaps with the (smaller) mid-trim Land Cruiser flaps on top with the holes lined up, to give us an idea what the additional coverage would be like? I'm having a hard time guessing from the pictures I've seen so far.

Good idea I'll make a reminder to compare all of them. I think I have the final versions installed. Sorry I didn't see this earlier.

Late to the party, but the JDM’s fit the 1958? Either you can cut them or we can cut ourselves due to the crash bar in US model LCs?
