This is my 3rd Toy truck. From a 90 SR5 pick-up to a 2013 Tacoma and now the LC. I am about 70% city driving, 30% in the bush. Have only had the truck a week so I haven't been in the bush with it. City drive has been great, comfortable lots of power.
The truck came with the cooler which is a waste of space in a cabin which has very little storage. I am hoping that Toy will come up with a complete replacement swap out. The only other disappointment is - No Remote Start - I live in Canada Toyota, give me a break. I think it is a cheesy move to try and suck $10 a month out of people.

I am not an expert and there are a couple of threads regarding the remote start. The predominant number of posts say the remote start is part of the Toyota Connect which you have to pay for service (approx $10/month Can). There are posts indicating you can use your remote without the subscription following a series of fob entries. I tried it, it worked once and never again. The one time it did work it messed with my display settings and CarPlay.
If you come up with anything let me know. I am finding it quite frustrating. 100K after taxes and Toyota cheaps out on the remote start for a $10 monthly gouge.

You do not need the app to remote start the LC, I do it all the time.

The trick is to get the timing down with pressing the lock button 3 time and holding it on the 3rd press.

I press my key fob lock 3 times and my LC starts remotely

Well you inspired me to keep at it. EOD Guy gave the following advice which I found very useful. I may have to send an apology letter to Mr Akio Toyoda:

I stare at the fob's LED and listen for the click (not really a click) in rapid succession, 3 clicks and holding on the 3rd click. Watch the LED and as soon as it lights and I mean exactly when it lights click it again, hold on the third etc....... every winter it takes me a few times to get it right again.

https://support.toyota.com/s/article/How-do-I-start-the-ve-7424?language=en_US Does the key fob not work for remote start? That would be absolutely a deal breaker here. But I thought the subscription was only if you wanted to use the app.
I donโ€™t want to pull you offside. EOD Guy gave this advice which is working. I stand corrected:

I was thinking it should. My Fords are a similar button tap dance, but timing might not be quite as critical. Double click the lock button then push the start. Toyotaโ€™s sounds like it would take a bit of practice to get it down.
