Not sure why Toyota decided to skip out on hood struts but here's a quick, easy and inexpensive solution. Check them out if you need a set : Engine Hood Lift Support Shock Strut Damper For Toyota Land Cruiser Prado J250 LC250 2024 2025

I think you mean" skimped" out on lol.

They cheaped out of a lot of things.

Has anyone found a kit that has been verified to use US parts or are they all just sending the same parts as the cheap Amazon kits?

Redline Tuning is designing a kit. Itโ€™s been coming soon for a while but Iโ€™m told they will be actually be available soon.

I am glad to see they went with a rod instead of struts. All the struts do i have used on other vehicles fail over time and let the hood close on your head. And they never seem to work well in cold weather.

Same same Jeeps.

I have them installed. Easy installation and works well (for now). Nice for quick inspections. I still use the rod for longer maintenance such as changing oil. Similar to using Jack stands along with your Hydraulic floor jack.

Yeah, it's like the auto-liftgate...seems like a nice feature, but I've always found them to be slow, and just become another problem to deal with as they age.

I've owned quite a few Toyotas over the years, from my first gen 4Runner, MR2, Tacoma, Rav4, and now this LC 250...and I'm nearly positive that NONE of them had hood struts...I've always just assumed it's not something Toyota does...but like you, I prefer to have less parts that can fail, particularly when it's something like this that doesn't otherwise inconvenience me

True, but Iโ€™d assume the same mounting points and that the back of the engine bay and hood would be identical.
The current aftermarket solutions are not using the same mounting points. The holes in that particular area of the hood do look similar. They are also reinforced, but not threaded. I imagine you could make some kind of hardware that could be inserted and clamp down inside there. However, the geometry of the current solutions on the market seem fine. I can't tell what's under all the plastic in the GX. We might be blocking some of the areas they use for the fender mount.
