I decided to join up after owning our LC LC-Premium for a couple of months. This is more my wife's daily ride, and I come from many years of driving Tacomas, I guess one could say we do tend to buy Toyota's in general, although my wife's previous car was a Jeep Grand Cherokee Limited X. Prior to that, she had 4-Runners.
We have really enjoyed the LC so far, the premium package has all of the features we could want. The cooler is a mixed bag, it works well, but as many others have mentioned, takes away from the miscellaneous storage one would use, and in our case, want. For short trips though, it isn't a bad thing keeping water bottles cold. We use it as we need to, storage or cooler.
We both are a little overwhelmed at times by the nannies, me especially over the constant nagging of eyes not being on the road ahead of me. Most of the time though, the safety features are nice, just a lot to get used to. In time it will all be normal, and there is the option to shut some of them off if it becomes too much of an annoyance.
We both just love the vehicle, it just fits in so many ways for our usage. It is very comfortable, and a very easy drive. Usually when I get something new, it takes me quite a while to get the feel of how it drives and handles. With the LC, it seemed to just fall into place very quickly-other than the nanny stuff. The steering feels light, but really just right for my taste. And I love how the turn radius seems so tight and relatively small for the size of the vehicle. For whatever reason, when we first bought it, the LC seemed bigger on the outside than how it feels when driving it. I am really enjoying just driving it so far. Nothing really sticks out as glaring oversite, or wrong. While the price is a bit salty, so is everything else these days. Overall, the quality seems about on par with most things. I too, do not care for the small fuel tank and range, but as others have mentioned, I too can rarely drive for hours like I used to without stopping for a break, getting older can be a bitch.
Needless to say, as happy as I have been driving my wife's Landy, I made a big decision to get one myself, and purchased my 1958 Meteor Shower Landy a couple of days ago. We had discussed getting our vehicles aligned with retirement coming, and I think we made the right choices. My fairly new Tacoma was moved on, and the 1958 takes its place. I can say this, I was never quite comfortable in the latest Tacoma I had, a TRD Off-Road quad cab long bed. Even after owning it for a bit over a year, making the jump to the Land Cruiser was very easy, and while not a truck of course, and a different approach, it fits. This move will also give me a chance to really experience the differences between the premium version, and my basic 1958 model. So maybe more to come on comments there.
I feel we are very fortunate to be able to do this, and we are looking forward to the Land Cruiser future. Our intentions is to keep the premium stock overall, nothing planned there, and to really do very minor things to the 1958, tires mainly. So maybe nothing real exciting, except for trips we plan on taking early spring of 2025, if all goes to plan. In the meantime, it is nice to read about other's adventures with their Cruisers, so keep them coming, and also the pictures, fabulous!
