In the Toyota sold in the GCC region have a gov requirement from any new car imported to have an annoying, to say the least, setting that triggers a visual and sound warning
when you exceed 120kmh. The 4 or 5 dings and return every time you slow done and accelerate again.
The problem is that a message that takes half of your screen persists and it renders your lower part of the display useless. The dings are also annoying, they stop unless you slow down and then again they start...
If you search the Internet for toyota GCC 120kmh speed warning
you will find posts dating back to 13-14 years back.
The question is: does anyone know how to disable such a setting that is embedded in the ECU?
I believe that short of re mapping the ECU it cannot be done.
I will ask my wife, next time we go on a trip to record or just take a gopro and show you how annoying it is
