Thought I'd share an easy DIY project for those running 35"+ tires.
As you know, running these bigger tires require you to remove the brackets on the backside of the inner fenders to avoid rubbing. When you do this; it creates a large opening that exposes the body mounting section on the frame to direct impact of stones coming off the tires. Certainty will accelerate corrosion in this area over time. My DYI solution is pretty simple and doesn't cost the typical LC excessive prices.
I got two 12" x 18" x 1/8" rubber sheets from Amazon and four M12 x 1.25 x 20mm bolts with washers. I reused the three OEM bolts per side that were fastening the brackets. Used a piece of cardboard as a template and about an hour later was finished. I think it will work well to block the roost coming off the tires save the frame.
Enjoy!
