I have been looking for accessories and mounts for my First Edition roof rack but it seems nobody is making one custom enough to fit it. There are a few issues I have right now with the generic accessory
1. The crossbar is not flat. It has a special profile.
2. The crossbar location can’t exactly be adjusted. In addition, it seems there are 5 anchor locations for the crossbars but there was only 4 crossbar provided.
3. If I want to mount lighter stuff on the side, for things like shovel, traction pads, the cut -out pattern seems to be too specific for any common mount to get bolted on it safely. (these cut-out might work pretty well if you want to mount additional camping light on it, but I am not sure what size is it designed for)
Right now I am looking for a nice Potomac mount on the roof rack. The best thing I can find is to use the factory rotopax mount with the part from Rhino-rack like this:
But this likely won’t secure the rotopax on the roof rack enough given that weird profile.
I wonder if there are somebody making a flat crossbar or even some sort of “bracket” that can turn the factory roof rack into a more accessory friendly design.
For a roof-rack priced at $1300, the quality of this work is really poor if you ask me.
