Fully aware this has been beaten to death in this thread, but thought I would let any doubters know that yesterday i got the coveted 8.5L/100 (28mpg) and range of 765kms (466 miles). 4500 kms and switched from winter to stock summer (20” wheels on dunlops) with driving in the foothills (equal ups as downs) - have only ever filled with Costco premium 91 - no winter gas here - really seems like the break-in and transmission memory finally seeing results - very exciting. If you have doubts (I was trying to sell mine a few months ago and never could) stick it out! Hope everyone has a great weekend.

Glad that’s the takeaway. Internet is the best. 👍
What? That's what you literally said.

If you have doubts (I was trying to sell mine a few months ago and never could) stick it out!
So you stuck it out, have good fuel economy now, and decided not to sell your LC250. What part did I misunderstand?

Sorry you feel insulted, but I just don't get how the difference between 9 and 12L/100km is your deciding factor between "I love this large offroad SUV" and "I need to get rid of this large offroad SUV".

This post gives me hope. I'm only at 600 miles and getting 16.4 if I'm lucky!

I just don't quite understand why there's a break-in period but I'm muddling through.

I’m no expert - but from other posts I’ve learned it takes time for the transmission and hybrid system to ‘learn’ how you drive and then maximize things from there. Only had a couple months of non winter driving when I first got it. And re: mileage and gas - thought about some comments above more and they are totally valid - but to me it’s the same reason why I buy stuff at Costco vs local organic market. Value is important to me. As is not paying for any variable input into anything more than one has to.

I suspect there is also a breakin period programmed where the ICE and transmission aren’t run as efficiently as possible for a while because they need duty cycles to wear in. Based on forum discussions it sounds like around 1,000 miles.

I can definitely speak to this. My initial mpg was 19 to 20. Now I can consistently achieve 20 to 24 mpg with mixed driving, and that is also with 275/70r18 Nitto G3.

I am at 8000 miles, 1000 are from me, 7000 are from when the car was a Toyota corporate exec vehicle I purchased from the local dealer(fully loaded LC, $9000 off mesr, got a 125k Platinum warranty for $1500). Stock 20's, running 93 (no idea what gas was used in it before), did a tank with Techron Ultimate fuel injector cleaner when I got it, they changed the oil before I picked it up. I am averaging about 20-22, some drives under certain conditions were as high as 25, short drives I see 18-20. Tire pressure at 36 cold. The range is tricky. I finally drove it down to 5 miles left and only got 14.7gal into it till first click. That means I still had a 3 gallon reserve, 60 miles if I drive it easy. That would put my "theoretical" range to empty at 360 miles on that tank. It is not a huge issue for me, on long drives I like to get out of the car every 2h and there are plenty of gas stations. If I ever drive it out west on an epic trip to Moab I would probably put a 3 gallon Rotopax on the factory roof rack for peace of mind. Planning on doing 5k oil changes.
