Dissent Off-Road purchased a 2024 Land Cruiser 250 1958 edition a few months ago and immediately ripped into it to see what this new platform has to offer. They tested it in stock form with 35" tires then with full suspension, armor and 38" tires. Nice overview of the modifications / challenges encountered. Here are their thoughts, good and bad, about the new Land Cruiser.
 
I am looking at their rocks rails. Lead time is a wait, but they make them to order.

The look is good and can be used as a step. No drilling or cutting. They are close to 140lbs which is heavy but can support the entire vehicle weight.

Many youtubers and content creators really just make fluff content that has no real world testing or R&D behind it. It nice when you see people that actually make stuff and test it. Not just someone that gets a factory loaner for a week to talk about and is bias towards the manufacturer.

Anyone can copy a design or product once it's be made, but seeing them develop for this new platform from scratch is cool and worth a watch if you are thinking adding over stock.
 
If their rock rails use the four existing mounting points it might be an improvement over Westcott. Adding steps to he Toyota stock rock rail may also be a good choice.

I'm not having the frame drilled for a rock rail unless I get an explanation of why the mounting points Toyota made are inferior.
 
Comment on the video. He makes a point of doing too much braking on a long downhill compared to older LC with bigger engines. But some of the braking is not using the brakes, its doing regen. Crawl control in particular, if programmed correctly, would use all the regen available before the mechanical brakes.

The amount of regen braking the vehicle can do can probably be felt when using auto braking alone. Approach stopped cars at a light at 40mph. Let the vehicle do all the braking. I believe that's all regen.
 
I was about to post this same video and came here and found it is already posted.
The video is good but I think the best part starts near the end, at 32min 20 seconds, when he details his feelings about this LC250. From a novice who is exploring now, I think this company Dissent Off-Road is well respected in this space of serious off-road builds. So it's interesting to hear his take on the 2024 LC. You will hear him say he expected to not like this 4cylinder and that he did not expect it to handle the tires etc, but found just the opposite.
