Dashcam wiring harness for 1958

We have a 1958 that I would like to put an aftermarket dash cam in up by the mirror. Does anyone know if there is power up there on the ‘58s and if so what kind of wiring harness would be needed to power usb c or usb a?
Ours is having tint and 3m protection done on today so I don’t have the ability to look in the manual or in the vehicle itself right now. Thanks.

Down the pillar to a 12v

Be careful, lots of trial and error. Tried tapping in to others and ended up frying a Prius and had a 10k repair order. Every system is so intertwined and integrated

I just installed the dongar dongle on my LC trim. There are 2 places you can easily tap in for power.

There is a 10 pin connector you can use to pull power off the rear view mirror (very easy to install, but not much room inside the rearview mirror housing)

Or you can get more official and use the 5pin plug that is inside the roof map light console. This plug is used for the port installed toyota dash cam. The roof light console is pretty hard to remove without a large trim tool, but once it is out the install was super easy and looks really clean

Thank you for the awesome response! Exactly the information I was looking for and the photos are incredibly helpful. Have the trim tools thanks to our Sprinter van buildout so should be doable. Just ordered the connector from Amazon. Really appreciate the help.

Any tips on how to remove the light console? From what I have seen, looks like you just need to pull down (hard) from the front side (closest to the windshield)?

Dongar includes a little trim tool, but it is too small to get enough leverage. You need to be careful not to use a prying motion b/c that will damage the head liner.

Correct and as mentioned above, you have to be careful as you will crush the foam and leave dents on the headliner. If you plan on removing interior panels, you should consider getting a trim removal tool set (dirt cheap on Amazon). If it's just the head liner one time, a plastic kitchen spatula will do the job fairly well, just be careful not to apply pressure on the exposed headliner. Line the spatula up on the edge of the trim and push/rock back and forth until you get 1/2" or so of the spatula under the trim, then using one hand on either side of the spatula, pull straight down forcibly. Once the spring clip clears it's mount, it'll allow you to get your fingers in there and to give it a good yank.

I'm using it with a Garmin Dash Cam 67W

The adapter plugs into the 5pin plug that is inside the roof map light console, and Dongar also provided a short USB cable that is perfect for routing to the camera instead of one of the long ones that came with the camera.

Can anyone here point me to documentation or a video that goes into more detail on how to remove the overhead console? I am fully aware that one or two of you in here made some effort to explain it, but I assure you it has done nothing to assist me - so I need more help, please.

I do have this trim kit https://www.amazon.com/dp/B082X6D5QY and I have the Dongar 5 pin which connector which comes with several USB connectors and zero instructions.

I tried every possible pry bar tool in the kit, all the way up to 4 at a time, and no luck. There is no indication of what "success" looks like vs it just feels very much like something is going to break imminently. Does the tool need to be in a specific spot? Is there some movement I should be trying - other than "don't ruin the headliner"? Is there a click I will hear or feels?

If there is something online that would help, I am apparently not using the correct search terms to find it.

Once you can get your fingers in the fwd R/H corner, you have to give it a good sharp downward yank!

That gave me exactly what I needed - I used what looked like an identical bit to what they suggested with something additional on the other side - that allowed me to get the hands in there as you say and torqued it out.

Installed easily and replaced from there - so very much appreciated.
