2024 LC Traildust
After coming from an FJ Cruiser for the last 15 years and now driving an LCLC, I think that it is too refined for my tastes. I am considering getting a Grenadier. Anyone else thinking the same or have food for thought?

A coil over suspension with some 35โ€+ wheels should give more off road flavor to a LC250 (ICON for example). Thereโ€™s some pretty nice builds already with steel bumpers and lots of off road lights. That BMW I-6 in the Grenadier is probably going to be a lot smoother than the I-Force Max.

Where are you even gonna have your Grenadier repaired in U.S.? You know it wonโ€™t be reliable given they are too new. Plus they are having serious supply chain issues right now, something way too common for new automakers.

Have you been drinking heavily by chance?

I would rather walk into a Land Rover / Range Rover dealership this morning and purchase any one of their vehicles at MSRP and then stop by the Jaguar dealership and do the same. And when I got home, I would feel I made two wise investments as compared to a Grenadier.

While I respect the rugged good looks of the Grenadier, it is a Frankenstein orphan. It is a combination of parts from manufacturers who make less than desire vehicles on their own.

I've experienced significant depreciation and a plethora of non-stop mechanical issues with the three new Range Rovers I purchased new. I cannot imagine the issues of a newly created auto manufacturer with no history and using BMW et al parts. And having very limited dealer support.

I can foresee these going through the auto auction in two years, once the newness has worn off, and being sold "as is" to buy here, pay here car lots for next to nothing....just like Land Rovers, Jaguars, BMW's, etc. However, even worse.

Is refined a smooth ride with elbow (and arm) rest and tight turn radius or a car with a large turn radius beeping on you when you go over the speed limit and then you realize that you can turn that speed limit alarm off but then when you restart the car it forgets you turned it off so you turn it off again after it beeps on you for going over the speed limit. So your turn it off. And eventually your arm gets tired and you decide to rest your arm but the armrest is a stick.
I could live with the turn radius but the others were a deal breaker.
I get what you mean though. Coming from the 5th gen 4Runner, the supple ride and the safety features take a bit of getting used to. Turn a few of those safety things off and it becomes a different animal. Well more like a different dog.

Thanks guys. That is why I posted this thread. I needed to hear some of those things. I love the looks but everything else said is a real downside.

Not to repeat others, but the extremely limited dealer network, and unproven company history make me very very hesitant to recommend a Grenadier to anyone but a person with a local dealer, and deep pockets to buy all the spare parts possible to keep it in service if INEOS elects to not make these anymore.

If I had more money to spend on a comparable Grenadier, lived closer to the dealer, and had an extra vehicle to drive in case of issues, I would totally own a Grenadier. I really love the character and toughness of the vehicle, but for my lifestyle, itโ€™s just not practical. It is a really expensive toy, in my assessment. Even my two boys that are 12 and 16, who really do love the thing, hated riding in the backseat of one and found it too uncomfortable to go on any long trips with.
Love it, but not a very practical vehicle. Now if you have the luxury of not having to be the most practical with your car choice, go buy one and have a blast!

Just build a rock crawler or buy a side by side. Then buy a trailer.

Tow it to the off-road play area with your Land Cruiser. If you break your toy itโ€™s no big deal come Monday when you have to go to work and take the kids to whatever season of sport or activities are going on.

Oh no. So sorry to hear that. What happened?
Hi Rocket, to be honest I was delighted with the Ineos, it's a great car, it's one of the best 4x4s I've ever had and believe me I've had many, in my particular case I hadn't had any problems except the front window being broken by a stone, the day before the terrible Dana that hit Valencia, they called me from the dealership to take it in for a software update. and the rest is history, it stayed in the workshop under three metres of water for several days, and was declared a total loss. the reason for not considering buying another one is because of what has already been mentioned in this thread, in my area the dealership is going to close the dealership due to the low number of sales it has had, and I'm not willing to have the closest dealership within 500 km.

someone else mentioned this, but a perfect blend is keeping the LC. Go buy a SXS (New CanAm Maverick) and beat the hell out of it. I've owned 6 SXS's since 2008 and they are the best outlet to go rip in the mountains and desert. And when you break them, which you will, then the repairs are generally cheap and you can trailer it home. Food for thought.

Service and parts are a disaster.
Was all set to get one, got serious,,,,,,,,,, back to my greatest joys in wheeling all over the world, LCs rule.
The Grenadier appeals to a very niche group. If it's truly a toy and getting disappointed, the depreciation etc doesn't matter, go head on and enjoy the adventure. You can always come back to the LC when it makes sense. On pavement the LC drives like sports car. The Brit box never will no matter what you do to it.
