Has anyone ever had an issue with a burnt rubber or burnt oil smell in the engine compartment? I took my 1958 back to the Dealer to complain about this smell, they said it’s a shipping grease that may have been on the exhaust system. I have about 3500 miles on my 1958 and the smell isn’t quite as bad but it’s still there. Anybody else have this issue?

I noticed it for the first couple of tanks of gasoline. Then i just threw those worry bleeds out the window one day!

Thanks for telling us what it was! 🤣

1100 miles here, and every so often that smell comes back. Really consistent for the first 500 miles ish. I chalk it up to new car smell since that is currently the only thing "off" with my LC atm.

I have it mine right now, from new to about 550 miles presently. I had a similar experience with a ‘97 Montero Sport, which went away eventually. Not concerned.

I have this currently at ~500 miles and knew what it was right away. I intend to give it a series of Italian tune ups after the 1K oil change to expediate the burnoff.

Yup, smells when going up steep off road roads... just hit 1,000 miles. Its normal.

Just had the smell today too, car was at 741 miles. Never had that smell for the entire 740 miles. I think today is the first time I am driving a bit aggressive since I was late for something, maybe that had something to do with it.

Mine went away around 1100 miles then came back at 4500 miles when I towed for the first time. Must have something to do with the exhaust or engine getting up to a certain temp.

Again i feel left out of a Cruiser experience.
No smells, no rattles, everything works as expected, some things better. @3k miles the drive train smoothed out.
21.1 mpg 70-80 mph over the ridge and back 250m round trip runs weekly, love this vehicle.
Handles great with eh michelin tires stock 20" rims are good for now and excellent on the paved roads and simple trials.
Oy vey, i coulda had a TRD poof or something else, NOT.
