Dashcam detail - FitCamX- its pretty hidden since it looks like its part of the RV mirror, I'm not sure if the techs knew i had a dashcam but judging by the singing, they either didn't know or didn't care. BTW the camera only records when the truck is on.

Today, I went in for scheduled service the LC was due for tire rotation, fluid top off and an oil change. My service advisor was very nice and he mentioned that it was a slow day so the service would be quick. He was right, i was back in my truck within an hour. When i got home i downloaded vids from the dashcam and reviewed them. This is the breakdown

12:54 - driven into bay
12:55 - camera goes off (18min oil change?)
1:13 - camera turns on with Hood up
1:14 - hood goes down - tech walks away
1:15 - truck is lifted (rotation?)
1:18 - truck comes down
1:18 - tech pulls out a torque wrench, sets it and starts on FP wheel
1:20 - tech pops up by FD wheel and walks in front of truck to put torque wrench away
1:20 - tech at laptop - data entry
1:20 - another guy walks up with a towel and starts wiping front of hood (cleaning prints?)
1:20 - towel guy spots something and tells the tech, they both look at it and wipe vigorously then give up
1:22 - pulled out of bay
1:23 - parked
1:40 - driven to front of dealership for customer pick up

After reviewing the videos i checked the spot they were wiping and there is a tiny scratch on the black tip of the hood. Its minor and i haven't decided weather or not to make a stink about it. I may call my advisor and have him check the inspection video they take during check-in.

Wondering if anyone thinks this service was too fast to do quality work? Is it possible to check fluids, change the oil in 18min or rotate tires in 3 minutes, or torque all lugs in 2 min?

Has anyone else captured bad dealer service on dashcam?

Probably why I wouldn’t want to look at the video, just too much potential frustration. Sometimes it is just better not to know? Ugh.

That looks like a rock chip and they were trying to do you a favor by trying to buff it off. I wouldn't make a stink. 1) because it's too small and 2) you have no proof they did it
True, its tiny and definitely the first of many. I'm not fuming over it but i am curious if it was there before i arrived or not. The still shot of the video doesn't do justice to the effort the techs put in trying to buff it out.

Hi, you are a very meticulous person. When I went for my first service, despite my appointment, they took 2 hours. And they did not change the oil. I agree with you that checking and topping off all fluids takes longer than 18 minutes. Then 3 minute tire rotation is a bad joke. Thanks for sharing your record keeping. Under 20k miles, they do not change oil.

I traded my 2024 Tundra in on my LC. Wanted to get rid of it before any engine issues. I had A229 VIOFO dash cams front and rear with battery backup for parking mode. Took the Tundra in for 5000-mile check and requested the oil and oil filter change. When they were done had oily fingerprint's all over the door panels and driver's seat. talked to the super and they cleaned the truck up. When I got home I checked the dash cam footage. When they started, they left the accessory on and the cams recorded everything and yes, the mics were on. The tech doing the job was ranting and raving about changing the oil and the guy must be an idiot. Went in the next day and talked to the manager and told him of the dash cam contents. After all said and done got a free oil change out of it. Won't be taking my LC to that dealership though.

I always cringe having to take any vehicle into the dealer for service. It often times comes back with some sort of body imperfection.

A few years ago, I took my new Range Rover Sport Supercharged into Land Rover Omaha for service of one of its many electrical issues. After a few day and taking longer than I anticipated, I called the service office to check on it. He advised it just left the paint booth and should be ready for pick up tomorrow.
Needless to say it didn't go into the shop work requiring painting. He advised one of the driver inadvertently backed into another LR and damaged the quarter panel.
They comforted me and advised there would be no charge for the body / paint repairs. Also, needless to say, they didn't feel it was important to notify me of body and paint work they were performing as a result of their negligence.

I argued with them a bit and they eventually gave me $3k for loss of value. This was a lease so I wasn't overly concerned. However, that was the last lease on a vehicle I did and definitely the last Land Rover / Range Rover product I purchased.

I have looked at dashcam footage during service visits. Car moves around, hood goes up and down, nothing too interesting. They appear to have done what was asked. I don't track small paint scratches as they are part of owning a truck, but dashcam evidence might be valuable in some cases.

I took my car to the dealer and they unplugged my dash cam. It annoyed me but a Google search shows that it's a pretty common thing by dealers.
