Did some mild off-roading yesterday. Wanted to see how the Grandtreks on 20s would do.

Turns out I was literally the only truck that wasn't a Bronco or a Wrangler. One of the wrangler guys had sticker on the back that said "bronco rescue vehicle". Seemed a little aggressive. I think I was the only person out of maybe 15 who was on basic street tires. Everyone else seemed to have lifts and AT tires.

Nothing crazy or technical, but I was surprised. Even the guy in the Bronco behind me said he was surprised how well it did in some of the trickier spots.

In 4lo the entire time. Engine braking was an issue. The LC wanted to go more than I wanted it to downhill. Had to go into manual and into 1st gear to get some more control.

I will say that for basic easy off road stuff, especially in the dry or not crazy muddy, the tires did really well. I went in expecting a disaster but came away feeling better about them. Will still be upgrading at some point, but the LC got me through despite the weakest point, the tires.

Yes, I should have removed the mud flaps. Completely slipped my mind and they hit several times.

I have about 5 hours of footage from the woods and the actual trails that I need to edit down. Will share that here once it's done. That's where the good stuff is.

Let me know if you have any questions.

Very cool. Looks like a great time. Looking forward to the video when you post it!!

Video. Should have cut it down a lot more, but too tired. Manually select 4K for the best quality since youtube seems to always want to default to 1080 or less.

Skip around. Narrow trail sections are around 22:00.

Great video. Agree with your comments on tires. If I had other vehicles riding with me I wouldn’t change the tires until I had too. But driving solo on any trails hairier than what you did would give me anxiety.

Thank you for the Pics and the post! Make sure you pressure wash the piss out of your radiator!

Haha. My neighbors probably think I'm a lunatic after they saw me pressure washing in the rain today.

Wow those pics show it as a great adventure! More than just the machine, I’m impressed with your driving skills to do that well with just the street 20”s too.

Thanks! But it wasn't anything too crazy. I didn't really know what I was doing. Most was slowly driving over slightly muddy dirt trails. Several spots with some rocks and climbs but just took it slow.

There was one muddy downhill section where I felt better tires would have helped, but there was definitely no issue getting over more dry sections even with medium sized rocks.

Any contact with rocks on the underside, or branches on the doors? This trail looks like a lot of fun!
