Hi Everyone, I have a 1958 trim and am in search of an audio upgrade.

Has anyone upgraded them? And if anyone knows the size of their speakers, I'd love to know what size speakers I should get. Ideally, I want to get Harman Kardon or Bose.

Any other recommendations are greatly appreciated!

Harman Kardon or Bose? Why?

The front doors are 6x9" midbass units. Dash is like a 3" coaxial. Rear doors are a 6.5" (?) coaxial. While there's a spot for a sub in the rear hatch, I'm pretty sure the 1958 doesn't have one.

There are Focal speakers you can probably drop in. Will certainly sound better, but when you are dealing with just the factory amplification, there are limitations to what you can expect.

My plan is to go all JL Audio in the future. Probably have it done at an audio shop as my time is so limited anymore.

I liked Harman Kardon on my old BMW, it sounded really nice.

Do you have LC trim or 1958 trim? I know my 1958 only has 6 speakers in total. You had a good point - I should also upgrade the amp when I swap speakers; otherwise, it limits the speakers' potential.

I never had experience with JL audio, I'll look into it.

I have the 1958 trim.

As far as I know, Harman Kardon doesn't really make aftermarket stereo stuff for vehicles. It's OEM equipment, only. And Bose's quality has been meh for a long time.

JL Audio and Focal are probably some of the biggest names in the high-end automotive aftermarket. It's a matter of taste.

Thank you for the information Ryan,

I didn't know if Harman Kardon was an OEM product. I've looked online about JL Audio and Focal, and there are many great reviews. I will keep them on the top list when I swap out at the shop!

Just an FYI, Infinity is a Harmon brand so yes they do make aftermarket stuff, just not under the Harmon name.

When I say the JL Audio and Focal are a matter of taste, I mean that they have slightly different sounds.

I'm a big tube amp and boutique speaker guy in my house, so I lean to a warmer sound. I personally like the JL Audio speakers a little better.

I like the warmer sound too, I listen to more acoustic music.

I found a youtube video showing swapping a front door speakers.

I contacted Crutchfield and Metra, but they don't have a specific plan to research LC 250 speakers. Does anyone know or have any information? I have the 1958 trim.

Thanks!
