Final sentence is spot on. We also own a Grand Highlander, which has a pretty big third row and good storage behind the 3rd row. It is a fantastic "mall crawler" if you actually use a 3rd row on a regular basis neither the LC or GX is really a very good option.
The way people discuss pricing on the LC is off base. I've said it in other threads, but if your "LC" price is the First Edition, plus options, plus fees, plus dealer mark up and your comparison price is the other vehicle's base model price with nothing added, you are going to come to the...
I finally picked mine up this week. This thread has been great information as we worked through these delays, cheers to all of you who have gotten delivery, hope the rest of you get yours soon!
People are quoting prices for the LC that include options and delivery fees, rounding up to $70k and then comparing that to the base price of other vehicles, not really an accurate comparison.
I have one on order that has them added, I wouldn't have added them if I had my pick, but I liked everything else so I agreed to buy the LC. I don't think I have even seen what they actually look like, but hopefully they aren't bad for wind noise or mpg, if they are I'll be removing them as well.
Feels like a big portion of this problem is behind us and I'm still here waiting on a LC that landed in Portland on 5/12. Dealer seems like he is sick of me asking him about it, but I'm sick of sitting here with no update from Toyota (not the dealer's fault at all).
Makes me want to just get...
My dealer said all of their 1958s and First Editions are good to go, but their Land Cruiser trim (what I have a deposit on) are still on QC hold. Absolutely brutal update given all of the good news other people are getting.
That's kind of what the 1958 trim level is right? (assuming cloth seats are okay w you)
I actually prefer fewer trim levels, previous LC generations just had one trim, maybe two, right? You get into some brands and it is a total puzzle figuring out what the differences between trim levels are...
I feel like there has been a lot of hand wringing about the loss of the V8 (which does concern me for long term reliability) but the driving reviews have been uniformly very positive, I'm excited to drive the new LC.
Man, I hope we get some type of concrete information from this (alleged) meeting tomorrow. This delay is frustrating, but also kind of makes me wonder how smart it is to buy a first year vehicle.
I'm flip flopping between exited for the possibility of actually getting my LC and the dread that...
I know it is all reading the tea leaves, but here is what my dealer told me yesterday:
2 of 6 they had on QC hold were released, hopefully mine released in the next few days.
Personally I thought saying "next few days" was a crazy expectation to set based on how this has gone, but this guy...
I was at a Toyota dealership for my wife's car yesterday. They had a 2015 Land Cruiser on the lot for sale and a '24 1958 in the showroom, I definitely felt like I had made the wrong choice buying a 2024 with a sun roof.
Almost drove out of there with the 2015 and ended the wait. The 1958...
I'm also baffled you can advertise a price and then add on a bunch of crap / fees and get away with it.
BTW- You probably don't need a lawyer or the BBB you could probably just file a complaint with the FTC for free.
Talked to my dealer today, no update on the hold on my LC, still no timeframe to release the QC hold, but he told me a couple of others that had been on hold have been released.
I guess the other question is: is the QC hold cleared vehicle by vehicle or is it a systemic, clear them all or big blocks of them.
If it is a sunroof issue that requires inspection and maybe part replacement on some it seems like they should go one by one, if there is a software issue but no...
So what is the speculation as to how much time this actually adds to delivery of vehicles that just arrived in port? Do they proceed as normal installing skid plates / running boards / all the PIO and just have to deal with the QC issue, meaning some delay but maybe not much worse than the 2 or...
Seeing the real world MPG after a few hundred miles is reassuring after hearing a few people say the "out of the box" fuel economy is below the EPA estimate.
Spoke w my dealer this morning and he said no reliable ETA for the vehicles on QC hold, frustrating, but I think he is being conservative not even guessing.
Does anyone have a concrete idea of what this is?
I haven't called my dealer to see if this even affects me, I thought I would wait a couple of days to see if there was some clarity, has anyone actually been told what the deal is?
