at $75k, the market is quite small to be honest, I wouldn't be surprised if I see some dealership in Iowa discount the first edition a few hundred to $1k off MSRP just to move it. There are already 4Runner TRD Pros being discounted from MSRP from "middle of nowhere" dealerships.
yeah, a small volume dealer might not get all the color available. I think I should be fine I told my dealership that I want ONLY trail dust and don't even contact me for other colors, hopefully that doesn't delay too long
and swap the rectangular head lights with someone who got the 1958 trim and then you're set, it's such a bummer that first edition only comes with black interior
you meant the First Edition mud flaps? My guess is yes but you should act fast. Sometimes Toyota would catch wind of this and restrict the sales of such parts with VIN lock, meaning you gotta prove you have a First Edition and then they let you order it.
Honestly I think aftermarket gonna...
If I understand correct, you provided new wheels and tires and gave to the dealer prior, and they dealer just mounted and balanced the newly provided wheels + tires and possibly swapped over the TPMS sensors from the original, and deliver to you the vehicle with new wheels installed?
Did they...
looking at the hood line, grille position and bumper corner, it's very UNLIKELY that they can't be swapped. Makes no sense for Toyota to have designed 2 separate body structures just for headlights.
However, these headlights are going to be expensive, probably between $1.5-2k for a pair just...
We really don't know how many GX Overtrail+ are going to be produced, probably going to be similar in numbers as the 5000 First Edition Land Cruisers.
If that's the case value retention ranking:
First Edition Land Cruiser > GX 550 Overtrail+ > GX Overtrail > Land Cruiser base > all other trims
I'm surprised nobody talked about oil weight by now in light of what manufacturer recommends vs what is more protection for the engine, I'm guessing everyone is sticking with 0W-20?
For reference, I do go against factory recommended 0W-20 weight in my 4Runner and use 5W-30. It's a such old...
the Canadian First Edition looks to be "de-contented" compared to what we already know of the US specs.
US gets cool box center console for one, I guess Canada doesn't need cool box
That strategy worked on me. As of right now, the ONLY way to get fully-loaded features with round headlights is by getting 1 of those 5000 First Editions. I don't know if 2025 or future model years it's still possible for such configurations so I succumbed and put the deposit on it the same day...
Very intrigued, what do low tension oil rings have to do exactly with OCI? I can only guess
blow-by past rings contaminates oil?
dirty oil causing residues on the rings reducing sealing property?
I think so, although I never had to replace it on the highlander, I did once accidentally drain the 12v on my Corolla Hybrid, which is similar. I was able to jump it back up, the check engine light was on and brake malfunction message appear. It makes sense because 12v battery is responsible for...
I only recommend people to go 5k/6 months if they do their own oil change, if they have to pay a shop $120 or dealership $180 for an oil change, it's not worth it. Might be cheaper just to rebuild the engine when needed with all the savings from longer OCIs.
I can't help notice that people here are very alike in their vehicle taste, it happens that I also own a 2023 Highlander Hybrid AWD
here is the battery in the back of mine.
MF designation means maintenance free so I wouldn't worry about it, as long as you keep the battery charge healthy.
As for...
Good move, Fred Anderson shows its true color when there's a chance to take advantage, I'd never set foot in there.
Mine deposit was made with a dealership that NEVER marks up anything, such as the ultra rare Morizo GR Corolla.
That or upgrade to AGM battery that can withstand deep cycles, also no corrosion. I have them on my 4Runner and Tacoma, one with a tune and the other with diode modification, to increase alternator charging voltage to 14.5v to properly charge AGM.
Yet, Land Cruiser too new, I have to go pull up...
Looks like First Edition roof racks are already on the vehicle in Japan. Such great news because 4Runners are shipped with naked roof from Japan, and TRD Pro roof racks are retrofitted in North America. This will definitely speed things up because no more work to do in port.
I get why Toyota doesn't even allow any form of ECU modification/recalibration, it's directly related to odometer reading so messing with it is tantamount to altering odometer. If one can easily set the tire size parameter, it'll make it too easy for the bad actors to cheat odometer by...
If the 12v battery is healthy, it should last more than 1 month in a hybrid vehicle if there's no abnormal draw, and should start the vehicle without problem.
What I meant by hybrids don't like to sit is more related to the high voltage battery. It likes to be frequently charging and discharging...
I'd be more comfortable with non hybrid for sure, but this is the hand we're dealt so not much choice here.
My true forever vehicle is going to be the 5th gen 4Runner. This LC if I get 10-15 years out of it, I consider it mission accomplished.
It's too early to judge this i-Force Max hybrid...
Amsoil is definitely not cheap, I use it only because I have membership and price dropped to acceptable level. Also Mobil 1 a lot of counterfeits on the internet.
I think the major difference is they have diesel and we get i-Force Max (hybrid). As for the turbo 2.4 engine, it could be the exact...
Sure, but I intent to keep my cars VERY long hence I take ultra care of them. It'll be a while if I decide to sell, unless I really dislike it for other reasons.
I'm taking a gamble on this new Land Cruiser though, brand new model first batch production always can have some issues. If I...
Have not yet decided, but most likely I'll use Amsoil Signature Series 0W-20 if it meets the specs for the vehicle. Not all synthetic oils are created the same, and as you pointed it out European spec oil got different additives packages.
LC has a totally different drivetrain setup in the US...
I checked a volume dealership, who publishes their incoming allocations each month on facebook for people to call dibs on, and there's no LC on that list unfortunately. They got some cool stuff incoming though such as GT86 Trueno Edition and 1 of 1500 Limited Edition Tundras slated for March
