I have jaded standards of “acceptable” performance. I drive a 2007 Tundra with the 5.7L V8, and consider it to be merely adequate and it accelerates harder than a 2024 Land Cruiser according to testing by MotorTrend all those years ago.
Our other vehicle is a 2015 Chevrolet SS (the 4 door...
It has to be said: Toyota North America has a huge problem on their hands with their US dealer network. Toyota dealers seem to really be acting like scumbags ever since COVID-19 kicked off. What a group of absolute shit heels.
I drive a lot of 2 lane highways, passing opportunities can be short, and there are a lot of dawdling tourists and slow drivers. When opportunities to pass present themselves a vehicle that can get with the program is greatly appreciated. The faster a vehicle can accelerate the more...
Lexus dealer is 5 hours and change for me to drive.
Pretty disappointed with the Land Cruiser the more I read. Fuel tank is too small, engine is frankly inadequate (0-60 in 8 seconds is pathetic for the price point), and the way Toyota options the truck is baffling to me.
At this point I am...
Yes indeed, I delayed going home after a “fun” night of work just to turn around and get a photo op. There were about 6 bulls but by the time I got turned around 3 had moved up into the trees.
The big one is the first one I saw, he had his head down and you could still see antlers. Don’t see...
Hopefully aiming the assembly up a bit will help. Most LED projectors are pretty bright and throw out plenty of lumens. It seems like Toyota/Lexus take a cautious approach to DOT standards, and IIHS ratings on creating glare for oncoming drivers. My mom has a 2021 Lexus RX350 and I have noticed...
The only part of the light doing any work is the lens for the projector. Everything around it is just cosmetic fluff. It does have a cutoff built into the lens though.
Too dim, or not projecting far enough due to a hard cut off line to reduce blinding other drivers?
Some HID and LED projectors seem to really limit the vertical throw of low beams.
My guess is the round LC headlights are giving that W shaped shadow due to a shutter of some sort cutting off...
Well this is good example of why you shouldn’t pay a premium to get an FE. It comes with base model headlights. They give base model lighting performance.
I really wanted to like the new Tundra but no full time 4X4 is a big swing and miss for me. Plus the visibility and general packaging of the Tundra options wise is garbage. Toyota screwed it up.
Well then you know how it goes.
UAW can’t force automakers to allocate more $$$ at a given price point for more durable hardware over gimmicks and bullshit. The Big 3 sell gimmicks and bullshit that falls apart in 5-6 years, that’s their thing.
I’m BLE-T by the way, unfortunately these days...
The small fuel tank on the LC is really forcing me to consider a different vehicle. Plus I’m putting on maybe 10% of my mileage in stop and go driving, so the hybrid is of very title benefit to me.
I belong to the oldest labor union in the United States, why would you assume myself or my colleagues set out to do a subpar job? I can assure you that is not the case, the company I work for sets the tone of how they want to do business not me.
The trend of deleting proper transmission coolers on anything but HD pickups is kind of auto industry wide. Really a shame for guys and gals who want to actually tow regularly.
You’ll be in good shape after you add an auxiliary transmission cooler, it will probably help out in low speed off road driving too when the torque converter is unlocked. Particularly that linked unit with a fan, if you have a toggle switch to activate it you could keep temps where you want them...
That style of “cooler” does a pretty shitty job.
If you plan to tow regularly plan to add a liquid to air finned plate style cooler on the return transmission line after the radiator puck hot liquid to slightly less hot liquid “cooler”.
Frankly towing near max rated on any vehicle is usually a...
I hate to be a pain in the ass, but if an engine burns gasoline and has a 11.0:1 compression ratio, and is also turbocharged on top of that you should feed it 91 Octane or 93 Octane. I don’t care if the owners manual claims 87 Octane is OK, or that the ECU can retard timing or signal the...
If the manual calls for 91 Octane feed it 91 Octane. I don’t see what is so difficult to understand about this for some people. Particularly given that this is a turbocharged gasoline engine, and it’s static compression ratio before boost is already fairly healthy.
I love all the posts about...
I will also throw out another possible alternative that will be useful if you do find yourself a homeowner in the near future: buy a truck.
Homeowner chores are a thing. Picking up appliances and furniture, hauling yard waste, runs to the dump, etc. These tasks are made easier with a truck vs...
This product stratification plan would be a lot more tolerable if Lexus dealers were more widespread. The nearest Lexus dealer to me is over 300 miles away. I prefer the GX550 to the Land Cruiser mechanically for the E-KDSS and V35A-FTS and 10 speed. I’m very hesitant to buy a vehicle that...
