My floor board…

Drivers side is constantly wet. Originally I thought maybe I tracked in some snow from hunting season so I removed the all weather mat and dried it out with a fan. I did that a couple times but when I drive for a half an hour it gets wet again under the floor mat. It’s not likely a missing drain plug cause it still gets wet when the roads are dry. I had an appointment at the dealership today for an oil change so they checked it out said they couldn’t find anything and I told them to keep it till they fix it. It’s just the front driver side and only on the bottom. I don’t feel any dampness any higher up. It is the premie with cool box. Got a rav 4 for a loaner.

You mention the cool box. Do you see a correlation with its use and the dampness?

Good question, as the cool box presumably has an evaporator, so what happens to the condensation?

No I don’t, I’ve only used the cool box a couple of times. I haven’t used it in over a month. I’m just kinda wondering if there is some line going to the cool box that may be unhooked. Didn’t really think about trying it out lately.

I’ve seen similar issue on the 4GTacoma forums. Cracked evaporator core box leaking onto drivers floor board. Hopefully that’s not the case here.

I don’t have personal experience with this, only recall seeing the issue on that forum.

Let's hope not! Presumably a MAJOR operation to repair.

Thanks for the info. Sometimes I feel like these forum communities are better informed than some Toyota techs. Not that I have lost my faith in the integrity of the Toyota technicians… I just feel they have a lot of vehicles and technology to keep up with. I have been in the woods with it and busted through a couple of frozen puddles but nothing to lead me to believe that I broke anything. If it is this evaporator box you speak of or not… this sounds a lot like it is not my fukin problem. I’m going to want the issue documented and warrantied that my floor board doesn’t rust out prematurely. I’m planning on keeping this vehicle for 10+ years.

I have had other SUVs that had condensation tubes from under the dash vents that were supposed to drain through the fire wall. Occasionally, they would clog or get disconnected and then the water would flow invisibly onto the floor board. I don't know if the LC has that design feature but some other brands do.

Same experience, especially on cars that park under trees, since the cabin and roof drain go to the same place. At least on some cars.

Dealer called me today to let me know they’re working on it and are going to have it for another night. The “ master technician “ has the carpet out and was drying it out. I could tell from the app they had the drivers side door open and tonight both front windows are open.

If it is a steady flow of dampness, it is regenerating water from one source. I parked mine in my driveway and let it run for a couple of minutes. When I backed out, there was a small trail of water. So, there is water upon starting originating from somewhere.

Your water is apparently not being directed to the proper place....outside the vehicle.

Please let us know what it turns out to be.

It’s not what I wanted to happen to a new vehicle but I knew the carpet would have to come out in order to address the issue.
Yes I have noticed water leaking from underneath the vehicle even when the AC is not being used. When I first got it anyway.
I’ve had several 4Runners over the years without any major issues and that is why I wanted my lc to have been built at the Tahara plant. Apparently Toyota quality is not what it used to be.

So the dealer contacted me earlier today said they couldn’t find anywhere the water was getting in. Said they “soaked” it but couldn’t find anything. I mentioned that they needed to take it for a drive and then check under the floor mat. He did that and when he got back the carpet under the mat was wet. Tech looked at it and tend to think it’s snowmelt coming from shoes and it gets under the floor mat in the right corner underneath the gas pedal. That could be possible cause the OEM all weather mats don’t provide much protection in that area. He said Toyota is aware of issues like this in certain vehicles but that it is the first time noted for the lc. They are willing to purchase me aftermarket all weather mats, their rep recommended weather tech and although I always used to get husky I am willing to try weather tech, especially since that is their recommendation. I am having them keep the vehicle there until the weather tech mats come in because I don’t want it getting wet all over again. I know I tracked snow in there during hunting season, thought I dried it out good but… we will see. Either way it has been documented and if anyone reading this lives in an area where you get snow…CHECK UNDER YOUR FLOOR MATS. If the new weather tech mats don’t abate the issue and they can’t fix it I would like to think Toyota will make it right and trade it on a new one built at Tahara.

Having been under my Land Cruiser recently to install the transmission skid plate: there's a drain on the driver's side for the AC I'm guessing? Or something that spits out water. It kept dripping on me (and in my face) when I least expected it. I wonder if that could be broken or clogged?

I’m inclined to think it would be something along the lines of this also. I dried it off a couple different times , parked in the garage so I know I didn’t always track snow inside. Also when I do have snow or mud on my boots I tend to rap them on the running boards a couple times before getting in the vehicle. They sent me a picture and it does look like a funnel on the floor mat. If it persists with new aftermarket floor mats and they can’t fix the problem I will insist on a new vehicle to replace this one. If it’s the floor mats there will be other people complaining.
