2024 FE. 1991 turbo diesel vx.
Had my first flat. Happy to report it was pretty easy to change - even on a sandy road. It was also nice the car detected after a bit of driving the spare moved in the screen with tire pressure.

Anybody else notice their tire seemed melted on the side??

To me it just appears where it was clamped against the vehicle frame. Hopefully not heat damaged... Question, is it a full-sized spare, i.e. not "Temporary Use Only" on the tire?

Full sized. Even the lines are grooves into the tires. Maybe it was over tightened.

After changing the flat tire - got to the camping spot and I didnโ€™t bring my keys to unlock the RTT. ๐Ÿ˜„

I also just got a flat. Nail in a parking lot.
The car never warned me either. have FE.
I was pleased to see full size spare and matching rim!
No burn mark on spare.
Chain hung up when cranking spare down. Had to kick around tire a bit to get it to drop.

The "melted tire" turns out it is undercarriage protection that rubs off ๐Ÿ˜Œ I don't know if that's a Canadian thing PIO/DIO, since we salt our roads. Whew!

As for how the flat happened I was driving down an FSR (forest service road), so I doubt it was a nail - i'll find out tomorrow when I take it in to see if it's repairable. I just want different tires anyway, so with winter coming this just speeds things up...

Sidewall puncture. I didnโ€™t realize, but covered under ECP road hazard. Good to know, but Iโ€™m getting new tires. Was holding off on a lift first, but lots of parts are backordered and Iโ€™m still working out weights.
