Land Cruiser Made in Hamura Plant, Not Tahara???

Interesting. Mine has the R5 in those VIN spots. I’ll update once I take possession. Great research.

Just got word from my very large Toyota dealership in MN that Toyota has told them that all 5,000 of the First Editions have been made (or in production). So, for now, it appears that only the Land Cruiser and 1958 trims will be available to order/allocate. Take this with a grain of salt.

Are you going through Walser, by chance? I'm in ND but saw they had something like 8 allocated LCs showing up on the Toyota site, which was the most I've seen at an individual dealer in the area.

I’m not. My dealership in Wisconsin happened to get two FE’s and I was second in line. Got lucky.

I went through my dealers current allocation list which is extensive at over 48 LC's. I witnessed window stickers with both Hamura and Tahara plants as final assy. Oddly this was spread across both FE and LC trims. There were both coming from both plants...

I had an FE respected which was from Hamura but switched to a LC from w/ premium package from same dealer and that one is from Tahara - fwiw

My First Edition is still pending Production / In Production as of today.

Wohooo, mine has finished build and now at the the docks waiting to be shipped it US

From what I can tell from a small sample size I saw at the local dealer (5 cars) plus what is on here. Looks like positions 10 and 11 in the VIN denote factory

RK - Hino
R5 - Tahara

All GX550 that I look up online also have R5 in positions 10 and 11.
If the above is accurate (need more data points, obviously) a quick search online shows that most Land Cruisers are actually coming from Hino.
This seems right. Mine is an RK and it was made at Hamura. Vin ends with 975, which I assume is where it was on the first production run based on what I have seen.

This is basically correct, although the R actually denotes the 2024 model year. From the Land Cruiser Heritage Museum:

The fact that the Hino plant manufactures heavy duty trucks actually gives me some comfort (mine was made there). Hino is well-regarded for their heavy tucks. However, would I prefer Tahara? Sure.

11th position 5 is tahara I believe

You are correct. Based off of your info I searched our largest Toyota dealer and confirmed that info (to myself).

I’m curious to know whether my Canadian spec 1958 was built at Tahara or Hamura. Unfortunately, my window sticker was removed prior to the delivery. Hope someone knows the plant code in the VIN. I have to say Hino assembled LC250 follows the same quality control and as good as Tahara built ones. I personally hope mine is Hamura built cuz I was born and raised in the area. Not many guys know that T100 was the model built there as well. I used to see hundreds of US/CDN spec FJ Cruisers and export spec white Prados w/silver steel wheels and spare tire at the back are getting transported to the port every single day. Never saw a single GX470 there. A pic taken on the route16, the half way between the Hamura plant and port of Yokohama. FYI near by Yokosuka is the home port of USS George Washington (CVN-73)

If you look at the post right above yours, the vin codes are there for Tahara and Hamura.

I’m trying to buy a LCLC through smartpath. What factory would it be if the eleventh digit is a 1?
