I've had 3 4Runners, and now I have my 1958LC. Here are my first impressions after 3 weeks.
LC Pros: Way quieter, smoother tranny, better road ride, better visibility, way better power and mileage. 4Runner pros: wider tail gate (can get 48inch sheet of plywood in), LC only about 45 inch opening, rear deck much lower than LC, elect rear window.
The big ugly hitch reciever cover people have commented on pops right off and they give you a nice half cover to put on.
All in all, this has been a serious step up from my 2016 Trail Supreme 4 Runner (no off road report yet).

Thanks for the comparison. I've long admired the 4Runner, but passed on it a few years ago (2021) mostly because my wife couldn't stand how it drove, not to mention the prehistoric interior, infotainment, etc. Even though it didn't bother me as much as her, she's also not wrong. It drives very truck-y, with a lot of body roll. etc. ("wallowing" is how I'd describe it)

I've had a deposit in the new LC since it was announced last summer and am really hoping it will have better road manners. Glad to hear a data point from someone with experience driving both. :)

I never understood why Toyota stuck with the 5-speed in the 4Runner. The 4.0 was a great engine. An 8-speed would have really improved the experience. Gearing on the 5-speed was trash.

Your wife will Like the ride. No "wallowing" even though it's taller. My wife's only complaint is the much higher lift to put groceries in. Easy fix... She can take her car grocery shopping.
