about 1 minute in it shows the bottom of the running boards. does anyone know what the clips are for? ...or is this just a remnant of it being a prototype/model

Pretty for sure, but I've learned my lesson the hard way with black vehicles - my previous rig was black and the pinstriping from branches/brush was very noticeable. Otherwise, I do like black.

My thoughts exactly. Was leaning heavily towards Meteor Shower for this reason, but wife's not a fan, so I've ordered a black one, but told my dealer I will probably have to see both before making a final decision.

If it's all the black pointed clips you're referring to, I'd think that's just how the black step tread on top is attached.
