Why not a Land Cruiser

Welcome to the forum Meteor1. Great to hear the positive review, as recently have viewed some disparaging reviews. Trolls, I think.
Not necessarily trolls.

Some people can only bring themselves to voice an opinion if itโ€™s a negative one. Some need to put down someone elseโ€™s choice to make their own remorseful choice feel better. Some stand to gain financially y having controversial opinions. But come here to this forum and read what the real owners are saying. Its a good truck

That is what is so good about the โ€˜Ignoreโ€™ function. Click on their name int their profile, click ignore.. done. Life is just too short for people like that.

Still, I find it most useful to put them on โ€˜Ignoreโ€™. Life is too short.

Welcome to the forum! Congratulations on your new rig. Yes lots of different opinions about the LC but that goes the same about anything really. What matters is if you like it and if it works for your needs. I love mine, itโ€™s been a pleasure to drive. Most of the members here love their LCs as well. I think the ignore function recommendation is good advice.

Its like with the Rav4. It is very popular and many soccer moms love it. I recently rented one for a road trip - the non hybrid version - and found it absolutely atrocious.

Until just a few months ago I had the wonderful V6 Rav4. The current version is a huge downgrade in almost every way and I truly do not understand how anyone may want to buy it. It is not only the terrible powertrain, but also horrible suspension, very unreliable
LKA, loud and very cheap interior, bad sound.

Korean vehicles seem to be way ahead of Toyota these days and a tremendous value.

I never block anyone simply because their opinion of a vehicle (or anything) is different than mine. If they are abusive/demeaning, then sure, but better to address that with a moderator, rather the simply blocking, as no one wants to listen to that. But I like to hear all the "bad" things from owners and reviewers just to get balanced input. Blocking out anyone that has a different opinion just makes those you listen to, and interact with, an echo chamber of your existing views. Negative reviews can be valuable. You just have to weigh where the reviewer is coming from. What they weigh as important/valuable may be different simply because the use case is different. Such reviews/posts can identify week areas that one may want to consider before buying or, if you own, something to potentially address with a mod or aftermarket product. Or, at least be aware of it should something happen in the field but then you are aware and can address it.

So, I am confusedโ€ฆ ๐Ÿค” Why is your Rav4 nightmare important to 2024 - 2025 Land Cruiser owners?

Korean vehicles.Really? Time will tell.

I found it more interesting to listen to the train of thought, defective, circular, reasoning that they used.. just for other people who want to hate something about a car that they cannot afford..

Because I worry that Toyota is going downhill, unable to produce quality cars anymore that can compete with Korea. Perhaps Korea is the new Japan. Just like with the Rav4, they put an arguably underpowered powertrain in the LC. And even though the hybrid battery is of such small capacity, it is so poorly integrated in the vehicle that we lose cargo space and rear seats do not fold flat.

I have a friend with Telluride and it is a marvelous vehicle, so well engineered. I drive EV6 and it is just about perfect. The new Santa Fe is exceptional. I test drove both the Santa Cruz and Tacoma. Yes, different vehicles but the 4cylinder turbo in Santa Cruz delivers power and sounds much better. Interiors in all of these Korean vehicles are luxurious in comparison to Toyota. I went to test drive Rav4 Prime but once I opened the driver side door I decided to skip that one all together.

I want to buy and offroader this year. I was all set for the LC but hearing that engine sound reminds me this Rav4 all too much. And all the recent toyota recalls, especially Tundra, well, maybe I will get the new v6 Passport or even the Outback.

It's really hard for me to have any respect for a brand that is so incompetent from an engineering perspective that they literally spawned a nationwide crime-wave called the "Kia Boys". (Boyz?)

these were the cheapest, older Kia models missing immobilizer. It is so overblown. One of the local insurance agents was trying to convince me that paying $200 a month for insurance is my only option because of this... Crazy. Found another company that insured my car for $65.

But sure, in the 80s people were very critical towards Toyota. The story repeats now.

Are you just trolling LC owners?โ€ฆ calling 326 HP, and 465 foot lbs of torque, at ~1,700 RPMSโ€ฆ โ€˜UNDERPOWEREDโ€™?

Enjoy your Kia.

Are you in ANY way financially connected to Kia?

You are yet another example of why the IGNORE button on forums is so useful.

I think it was a bit more than that, including some of the bigger names like the Palisade, Santa Fe, Sedona, Sportage, etc. At least a 10-year span of model years as well. "Overblown"? Hmm.

I am very far from a Toyota Fan boy, yea i have a 200 series LC and a 5th gen 4R, but also currently own other new vehicles from BMW, Audi, and Jeep. My opinion is that the LC is NOT underpowered at all, not even a little bit. I think a lot of this is psychological around the 4cyl. This engine has more power than my 200series V8, my 3.0T Q7, my Jeep, and close to as much as my X5. People just need to move on and accept the future. As for comparing Toyota to the Korean makers like Kia, that is just crazy on so many levels. If its the sound of the 4banger that make people feel inferior just add the Tacoma TRD muffler or the Borla. Problem solved
