I bought the OEM roof rack for my 1958 edition. Been watching tons of videos and everyone seems to use different sealers. Between all these posts and videos kind of lost on the type of sealer to use. Don’t want to risk a leak or rust in the future. These are the two I found the most common recommendation. Can I go wrong with either? Do you all know of a different one that I should use?

I use the permatex gasket sealer on just about everything that might need to come apart again.

Would it be this one that you use? Dumb question, would you never need to replace the sealer?
Yes, but be warned! Ultra black will get on everything, not a big deal if you wipe it off quickly. Use some painters tape to mask off the area to prevent extra cleanup. You will probably never need to replace the sealer unless it has direct exposure to the sun and then only if it showed evidence of lifting off the surface. I've never had to replace RTV when sealing off roof attachments etc.........

Appreciate the advice!
