2024 Land Cruiser
So we bought two Land Cruisers. One is a black 1958 built in Nov 2024, the other is a meteor shower 1958 built in Jan 2025. Some dust has settled on the hood of the black one and now I see a seam going across the hood. The meteor shower one has no seam. Both were sold to us as new in January. Is this seam standard on anyone else's? I've sent a note to the dealership asking if body work was done on it. As much as I love our new Land Cruisers, I'm really shocked to see this now.

Paint protection film, its to prevent rock chips from dinging the paint, it will also be on the mirror backs, the front fog light portions of the bumper if painted and sometimes on the rear doors near the bottom and you may also have door edge guard which looks the same only much smaller area.

Paint protection film. It's an option.
Okay so this is maybe installed by the dealer? Interesting that it's only on the lower portion, I could see the value to protect the front, just wish the seam wasn't so obvious in the spring pollen and dust, thank you!

Thank you so much, I was feeling sick about it, thank you! I can see the value, especially on black, wish the seam wasn't there but okay then! I had a black 4Runner Limited before this and it didn't have that.

You can pull it off or take it to a PPF installer and let them do it. It shouldn't be noticeable unless you are looking for it.

I would be afraid of damaging the paint somehow and it's probably good, not sure. it wasn't noticeable until today.

Keep the edge of the PPF clean and it shouldn't be noticeable. Dirt will collect where that seam is.

It should be removable without damaging the paint. You can have an installer do the entire hood (and more $$$!). Then the seam will disappear.

That's a really good idea, the seam has never appeared before, now I can't unsee it, will have to see how much that would be.

I had only the half hood of PPF on my last vehicle and did the whole hood on my LC because I too hated that seam. Worth the money to me to have the whole hood done.

I've had the partial hood PPF on my last vehicle and my current LC. I had my last vehicle for 12 years and the hood looks pristine because of it. They are worth having a little seam! For the record, you can also have the PPF installed on your door edges for paint protection from door dings.

Good to know, thanks! If it hadn't been a partial install, we wouldn't have known it was there but now I know what PPF is.
