I'm still moving stuff over from my GX and waiting on new items to arrive to get my new LC usable, but I'm looking forward to getting out with it soon. I've spent a lot of time along the VA/WV line, west of the area between Harrisonburg and Lynchburg. I know I'm going to have to broaden my options though. My favorite river road to camp off of recently had Google Street View added, so I bet I never find an open spot again there. Do you have a favorite area to explore? Would anybody be interested in putting together a group trail ride so we can go see what these things can do?

Great idea on the request for camping spots. I'm north of Atlanta and are always on the lookout for new spots to camp. It would also be good to get some regional chats happening. It would be good to connect with people in the southeast that are interested in some overland camping trips. We just got back from a National Park camping/road trip (Congaree NP, Great Smokey Mt NP, Mammoth Cave NP)
For State Park camping, Cloudland near Rock City is amazing.

Nice! I need to get my LC out to the area. There is one spot coming up Union Springs that I am curious how approach angle would be.

I wad always partial to big levels (bald mountain), long and fun trail, a lot of camping up on the blue ridge side, but the bottom of it has my favorite campsite in the area… it’s usually pretty quiet aside from the random jeep group or whatever passing by. And if you havent driven the trail, beware of the water crossings, theres one with a bypass, i suggest using it unless you walk it first to establish your line… its very rutted up from jeeps on 35’s just ripping it up… very easy to diff out. Or if you’ve been, then disregard this whole thing!

I've been to those. But in a Bronco with 3" lift and 37s. Way overbuild for the area. Stock LC is a different story. Most of it will still be easy, just one or two spots I would actually need a spotter, until i learn the feel of the approach, departure, etc.

Any interest in a group outing on the Georgia Traverse? We could plan a weekend that would work for several people.

When I started exploring out that way, I had a stock 1985 S-10. I had to pick my lines and be smart. After that, I had a 1987 Silverado with 4" of lift and 35s. I just drove. It was easy mode. Some years later, I ran Shoe Creek with a Jeep club. They were mostly JKUs on 37s. I had a stock XJ on street tires. They were amazed. 😂

My FJ on 33s always felt practical. Lifted just enough to be capable and safe. The stock GX on 32s has done everything the FJ did and more. I'm really looking forward to trying out some familiar obstacles to see how the new LC feels.

We recently did part of the Chattahoochee BDX trail in GA—great ride! It’s a 300+ mile loop, and we covered a small section and plan to go back soon. Plenty of nice forest service campsites, but some trails were closed, so we had to reroute. Also passed through some cool North Georgia towns along the way.
