I have a question and I would like to get your opinion regarding the tires I want to use on my land cruiser ? I have seen a lot of information and I want to make the best decision possible, I would like to put 285/75/18 !! using a two inch lift kit do you think I will not have any rubbing ?

That's exactly what I plan to do with Falken Wildpeak A/T4W LT285 /75 R17 tires and an Icon Stage 8 (or similar) lift kit. I don't expect any rubbing.

Yea man, I would say with 99% certainty that you will have zero issues with that
thank you very much I hope so, I have days checking and checking everything and I think no, it's really the rubber I want.

I have 285 70/17, no lift, and I rub a tiny tiny bit, so I would assume you would be fine
I also think it will depend on the model or style of rubber, the nittos are like fatter so to speak, the ko3 is much flatter, that could also affect me that's why I am considering the bfgodrich, actually most of my cars have the bfgodrich and excellent, but this time with the land cruiser I would like something different and that's why I had thought the nitto

Honestly don’t think there’s any 285/70 tire that would rub with a true 2” lift.

Yea no worries man, and sometimes you just have to take the leap, and if it does rub or anything, there’s a bracket on the cab side of the well that comes off with 3 bolts that will give you a good bit of wiggle room and then there’s always the heat gun!

285/75/17 on 2.5” lift and no rubbing on or off-road

I have 285 70 18 which are 34.78" tires with no rub. I have Westcott lift and 2024 Taco wheels though which are 45mm offset

really the leveling kit I wanted in the land cruiser is Westcott lift but it is almost impossible to get, at least here in orlando florida I have tried to get it and look for it and nothing, and if I order it online it takes 8 weeks, which seems ridiculous to me that it takes so long, when they should have an incredible production and a large stock, I do not understand why some brands do that and much more they who are so famous.

I hear you. I waited 8 weeks. It sucks. But it was worth it in the end to me.

Nice FJ.

You’re probably fine as others have said. Which wheels? I’d be a little concerned the 1958 stock wheels might have too much offset but maybe someone else can confirm they’ve tried that combo?

Edit to add: with a 40-45 offset wheel they’ll fit with no lift. But they probably won’t fit in the spare tire location if that matters to you.

Interesting thread. I’m debating the same tire size issue between 285/75’s on a 17” vs 18” rim. I have the Westcott collars on order and have a rim in mind with +25mm offset. The 18” rim gets you a full inch more of tire diameter vs the 17’s and would also seemingly fit on the existing 18” spare (for the FE) vs having to mess around with an off-sized spare.
With the WD collar and +25 rims, I have to assume I gonna be good with the 285/75/18. We’ll see in about 6 weeks…
