5mos/5k miles on Heritage Blue LC-ed 2024. I already have a few noteworthy white specs (chips thru blue!) from road-only driving. Noteworthy too: I've handwashed 4-5x only. Decide to do another wash last night + add some carnuba wax and plastic/rubber trim UV-coating. Super up close and personal (ie hand waxing) the paint on this truck "feels/seems" incredibly thin. I see lots of what I assume are factory paint swirls (mostly camouflaged by the wax now, but not completely.) There are already what appear to be "wind marks" on the raised hood area towards windshield too. Paint looks OK/passable now with fresh coat of wax, but I am skeptical as all holyhell about longevity of the factory paint job. This truck was born in the Hino plant too, BTW.

Curious if this is just my one-off experience or is anyone else having same feelings/results?

PS My wife's GX550 (pearl white) paint is exact opposite...paint feels thick and has lots of depth (and no swirls) and no noticeable dings after a few thousand miles.

I did a paint correction and ceramic coating almost as soon as I received my LC. The paint was in much better condition than on the last Toyota I purchased (a 2021 Venza with endless swirls and scratches). Toyota paint tends to be softer than most, in my experience, but the LC paint was definitely slightly harder than the Venza. I encountered no issues with thin paint (actually, we're really talking about the clear coat, not the base color coat). I did a two-step correction with Jescar Correcting Compound followed by Sonax Perfect Finish. Compared to my experience with other cars I've paint corrected - mostly Acura and Honda - this fell pretty squarely in the middle as an average factory paint job.

I had PPF applied to the high impact areas - front clip, mirror caps and door handles. No issues in any of those areas at this point.

I haven't noticed anything out of the ordinary yet, but I honestly haven't had time to go over it as thoroughly as I should. It's still winter-ish here so until the weather warms up I won't be able to inspect with any detail. Hopefully not! I did get PPF in all the normal places, hopefully that helped!
