I am new to off roading and am adding some equipment to mitigate me bending things before I take my LC onto a trail. Skid plates are about to be installed. My question is do any of you remove your skids when winter hits or you aren’t planning on off roading for a while? I’m in the Chicago area and these roads are more salt than pavement at times. I worry salt could get into the undercarriage and not get washed off. Just curious if the pro’s out there consider removing skids during off seasons.

I'd leave them on as a shield from salt and ice chunks etc. But it's also probably a good idea to take them off and clean underneath occasionally. And spray everything with fluid film while they're off. Having said that, when we lived in the Chicago burbs I had a Toyota pickup with no skids and just took it to the car wash frequently, and never had any rust problems with it. So either probably will work?
