I want to wait and see if someone comes out with steps for the stock rock rails to add on or maybe source the Japanese Jaos ones in black

These are on my FJ stock rock rails. Simple bolt on. N- FAB. bought them over ten years ago. Google NFAB. Cheap.

I had those, as well, on my previous FJ and liked them. I bought another set hoping they would fit the LC FE OEM rock rails, or at least be easily modified to fit. Unfortunately, the measurements are not alike. While the N-Fab steps are too short (rear to front), which could be adjusted with spacers possibly, they won't fit between the two rails.

Z-Overland has some that will fit, but they've been out of stock. I'd prefer ones with the step below the rail, if possible, to help my wife and others with shorter legs to be able to get into the car more easily. I can always take them off prior to any real rock crawling if needed. So, still looking.

I too would have thought they would fit. The glass on the FJ outside mirrors are the exact same measurements has the new LC.

I just installed the ZR Overland side steps on my LC FE OEM rock sliders.
The price was $230 for a set of two (price included tax & shipping). It was sent by UPS and arrived in less than 1 week.
They quickly attach to the sliders and create a very small profile.
Here are some of the photos of the steps, attachment bracket, and bolts.
I'm pleased with the look and quality of them (coated billet aluminum). My 5'-0" wife was also very happy to get them!
