Hi Everyone- New to the forum and new to Toyota LC's and need a little advice.
As part of the 1958 LC that we bought, the dealership was supposed to add the non-1958 running boards to the truck this week (along with leather and new tires). First, they tried to get us to agree to non-OEM running boards (which are about 1/3 the price of what they charged us). Now they are telling us that non-1958 LC running boards will not fit our 1958 because the 1958's do not support lighted running boards (see text). We do not need lighted running boards but we do want something that fits. The dealership has had our truck since Friday a.m. (supposed to have it back Saturday or Monday, this stinks!).
Three questions:
  1. Is there truth to this or is the dealership trying to back out of something they promised?
  2. What do I call a non-1958 LC, a LC?
  3. We are in OKC. Anyone in the area looking to sell their running boards? Assuming the fit! Someone from Tulsa said they were selling them but I cannot find the message!
Thanks!

My advice is take it without the running boards and buy a set off someone with a mid-trim LC who is getting rid of them. They're really easy to install, 6 bolts each.

I thought I saw in an Ed Martin Toyota video that the 1958's still hav the power cable for the Toyota running boards? Even if not, you could bolt them on and not plug them in.

Hi Stan welcome to the forum. I have seen all these names for non 1958. Core, base, Landy, LC LC in dealership paperwork. I am hoping you have the rectangular lights, and not round. I call mine LC LC.

I thought all LCs were wired for the running board lights, IDK. If you pull the driver's side sill plate and look if yours has the plug (yellow dot in the picture).

I know all LCs come predrilled with bolts installed for running boards.

I would have them install the Running boards without the lights hooked up (as that's what you'd have with after-market boards) and hook up the lights yourself.

Thanks for the advice. I was hoping I could do that but wanted to confirm that it was doable. Frustrated that this just comes down to the dealership not wanting to do what they promised.

I added running boards to my 1958 a few weeks ago. No issues. The 1958 has two extra bolts that fit the running boards pattern.

Wow. That's not cool. I sent you a message about the running boards I'm selling. I'm hoping the dealer selling your LC is just incompetent, not dishonest. Eric at Ed Martin in Indy is really friendly. I stopped by their dealership, he was sitting at the front desk, and I asked him if he could help me understand how to re-route the SDM cable underneath the LC. About two seconds later I'm laying on the showroom floor underneath an LC with Eric showing me exactly how to do it. I'm not sure I've ever seen a GM at a dealership who would sit on the floor, let alone take the time to help out a guy with a question like mine. We need more guys like that working at dealerships.

My 2025 appears to have the power cable for the lights, but I only saw it on the passenger side. The driver side looks like someone forgot to wire up the connecting piece to route through the floor. Not a must have for me, so I probably won’t even worry about it. The RBs bolt right on without issue and include a notch on the middle section that’s handy for alignment before bolting everything in.

Got it! Thanks for the feedback. This forum is so helpful.

I bought running boards on Amazon after hesitating for a while... they were about $300, shipped fast from China (less than a week), and look/feel exactly like OEM. Took about 15 minutes to install. As others have said, all the bolts are already there. No regrets going that route so far.

Is this the wire for a lightening of running board? It's not connected to anything. I have FE trim with running boards without lights... Not rock rails

That’s the same connector I have on the passenger side. Those running boards are supposed to be plug-n-play. Do you have one on the driver side too?

It is the driver's side. Didn't check the passenger side being sure it's the same...
