I know there are a lot of people noticing screeching sounds from their brakes when they back up their car and supposedly Lexus already released a TSB for it. However, here's an interesting one...

When I am driving my LC (300 miles so far), upon cruising speed, foot not on the throttle, I am noticing a rotary sound, as if the break pads are slightly touching the rotar? It's every so slightly that wind noise or music can drown it out easily. But it's definitely there. Anyone noticing that?

You can hear it under these conditions:

1. Foot off throttle
2. Between 8~19 mph.
3. As soon as ICE kicks in when you accelerate between the 8-19 range it disappears.
4. You can hear it when it's cruising within that range using hybrid system.

"All new electric and hybrid vehicles built from 1st July 2021 will be required to have AVAS fitted

The system will need to produce external sound via a sound generator ranging between 56 and 75 dcb when running on electric power at speeds up to 20kph, and will need to show whether the vehicle is accelerating or decelerating.

There is no requirement for the sound to be heard inside the vehicle."

It kind of sounds like a whirling and will disappear once the ICE kicks on. A lot easier to hear with the Windows are down in an alley.

I actually don't think it's the electric sound required for EV operations. I had a Rav4 Prime PHEV so I understand what you mean. However I don't hear it when I am backing up my vehicle. I don't hear it cruising above 20mph or below 8mph. And instead of an electric sound, it sounds more like brake pads slighting grinding on the rotor at that speed.
