My LC came with 20" wheels and I will be swapping them out for a larger tread diameter/smaller wheel diameter. I have a Westcott Preload Collar lift on order, so can handle a slightly bigger tire. Thinking about a 35x12.5x18. I know I will be taking a power hit, but I'm curious how much the extra side wall height will impact handling? Also, this size tire will be a D load rating. I assume this will ride much harder than the stock 20" SL rating.

An alternative could be a 17" wheel with a 35x12.5x17 C load range. This would be a much taller sidewall and better for off-road, but maybe worse on road.

Looking for experienced responses.

Many thanks.

I saw somewhere that the 17-inch wheel wont clear the brakes with enough clearance for debris. So you might need to do some measurements on that before moving ahead. I'm running an E-load on 18s and it rides real nice, imho.
