Question, when you ordered from JDM, did they come as a set/pair? ThanksI got mine directly from Japan from this website and the shipping was freaking fast. [NEW] JDM Toyota Land Cruiser 250 J250W Rain Clearing Blue Mirror Genu
@Bweare are these JDM ones you got any different from the JDM blue ones that @StickerFab is selling?I got mine directly from Japan from this website and the shipping was freaking fast. [NEW] JDM Toyota Land Cruiser 250 J250W Rain Clearing Blue Mirror Genu
are these the blue ones? Most of my previous cars have been Euro models, and I’ve always swapped out the mirrors for aspherical ones. I like quickly glancing at my driver’s mirror and confidently merging across multiple lanes when getting on the highway.
In the U.S., driver’s side mirrors must be flat by law, meaning convex or aspherical mirrors are not allowed on the driver’s side. In contrast, European models typically use aspheric on the driver’s side and convex on the passenger side. Japan appears to use convex mirrors on both sides.
I ordered a set of JDM mirrors from eBay. Unfortunately, the OEM part number isn’t printed on the US or JDM mirrors, so I don’t have the official JDM part number. However, the US driver’s mirror part number is 87961-6A570.
No Heated Mirror Symbol – The JDM mirrors don’t have the heated mirror symbol yet are heated. I checked with a forum member in the UK, and their heated mirrors also lack the symbol, so this seems to be a Toyota design choice outside of North America.
After swapping to the JDM convex mirror, I noticed that the most significant change is in the vertical field of view (which is kind of useless) rather than horizontal due to the shape of the Land Cruiser 250 mirrors.

JDM mirror on the left and US Flat mirror on the right. I broke a tab, removing the US mirror. Don't try this when it's 30F in your garage!

Great, thanks. Unfortunately that ebay seller for the non-blue mirrors is out of stock, and I can't find them anywhere else.I didn't buy the blue ones. From pictures, they look identical. The only difference appears to be the coating. Looks to be convex with the connection for the mirror heating and blind spot monitor. Part number for the blue mirrors: 08169-60010

Uhhh... you take a deep breath and just pull the mirror away from the housing. There isn't really a science to it.For someone who's done the swap, could you walk through the steps? (and anything in particular to avoid breakage/damage of tabs, etc) Thanks in advance![]()
Does this mean manufacturers can't include convex but they can be changed to convex afterwards, or that convex driver's side mirrors are illegal in general? In the U.S., driver’s side mirrors must be flat by law
Does FMVSS No 111 apply to modifications performed by the customer, or just the manufacturers? It’s part of the NHTSA regulations that the driver’s side (left) mirror must be flat. So technically, swapping to a convex JDM mirror on the driver’s side isn’t legal in the U.S.
That said, it’s extremely unlikely anyone would ever notice or care.
