Installed JAOS red Mud flaps today, on the fronts, instead of trimming them, my mechanic decided it is better to remove the factory steel piece that prevents it from being flush mounted and install the flaps. JAOS provided the necessary hardware that goes in place of the oem steel piece to give the extra attachment points on the mud flap.

Remove the fender liner lower piece to expose the oem steel piece (don't know what this is called) and remove it:

Install in its place the JAOS provided hardware, the 2 holes there will let the Mud flaps attach:

Drill 2 matching holes on the oem fender liner piece and put in between the hardware support and the mud flap:

Attach Mud flap:

Back side of the front Mud flap:

Rears much easier, but does require drilling one extra hole:

Can you give the link where you bought these from?
Sure, bought them from Black Hawk japan, shipping wasn't bad but that was before the tariff situation.

The lower steel piece is called a crash bracket (based on a lot of videos posted by knowledgeable people on YouTube..) I know some people remove the crash bracket to fit larger tires, but I personally don't want to remove anything that may be related to the structural integrity of the LC in the event of an accident. Of course, I'm not sure if the crash bracket is installed in other markets, or just the US. Anyone out there know if it's installed overseas? Europe? Australia? Middle East? Japan?

I figured it has something to do with crash ratings, because I have read other markets don't have this bracket, and the sole reason I can think of is due to crash ratings, as US always has more stringent requirements than others. JDM mud flaps all designed without this protrusion in mind hence so many of them needed trimming.

I guess one way to look at it is this way everything is reversible and the mud flaps are not damaged and can be resold down the road if I decide to go with a different look, and the crash bracket can be put back in.

The rear piece looks a bit odd stick so far out. Do you have a 1958? Seems like it's also slotted and it's currently set to the outward position

That does look odd and the marketing pictures don't have that tilt so maybe it's the install? I also see a drill there, I know their fender flares require some drilling but looks like the mud flaps do too?

I have a few Jaos parts installed on my LC and I think they make excellent products but the mud flaps with the kangaroo and if red with the black strap. I don't know about all that.. Each his own.

Yes, mine is the 1958. Need bigger wheels and fender flares to make it look less stick out, like the one on their demo car.

I installed JAOS black flaps this Monday. I had to make a cardboard template and cut a small piece on each of the front flaps. Was not a big deal, but I did not feel like removing those metal brackets....
As for kangaroo-it's JAOS trade mark and I like it.
Not so sure about red color somehow...But then we are talking NYC Land Cruiser, so everything is possible over there.
