Is Toyota Falsely Advertising LC Prices?! Base MSRP Doesn't Match Monroney Stickers Nationwide

2025 Land Cruiser LC
Hi all, I'm new here. I'm about to purchase a LC LC - and discovered something potentially strange about the BASE MSRP Toyota is advertising, versus what’s actually listed on the Monroney window stickers nationwide.

Toyota’s official website lists the BASE MSRP for the 2025 Land Cruiser trim as $61,470. However, all the window stickers for the same vehicle show the BASE MSRP as $62,450—a $980 difference.

(To be clear, I'm talking about the BASE MSRP, before packages, options, add-ons, taxes, or fees, all of which are all added AFTER the Base MSRP.)

By law, as I understsand it, the base MSRP is supposed to be consistent nationwide and is set by Toyota, not dealers. The Base MSRP is not subject to regional markups or add-ons.

Toyota customer service couldn't explain the discrepancy and escalated it to management. I'm waiting for a call back. Meanwhile, my salesman is trying to blow me off by stating "dealer prices vary." He's not understanding the basic point that Base MSRP does NOT vary and the Monroney sticker's base MSRP is supposed to match the manufacturer's official MSRP.

Anyone in automotive retail/law know what's going on here? Has anyone else noticed this discrepancy? I'm supposed to finalize my deal tomorrow and can't get straight answers.

I believe Toyota has secretly raised to the price of the Land Cruiser trim. If you go to the configurator, the Stabilizer Disconnect Mechanism (SDM) is now shown as an option.

The SDM used to be standard (and is probably standard on the higher MSRP unit) on the LC trim.

Oh damn that's surprising!

SDM is also now showing as an option on the vehicle spec sheet. Also, it appears there will now be a "Snow" driving mode.

My '25 1958 does not have this drive mode, though it's build date was 10/24.

My 2025 LC Base model with Premium package has the 'snow' driving mode that I can select when I put it into the MTS selection mode. I haven't used the function as I am no where near snow unfortunately. I believe between that additional mode and the SDM were items specifically included in the LC Base edition which is the upper trim between the two models, not sure if the Premium package brought additional things or the snow I can't remember of top of my head would have to look up my spec sheet again.

My limited understanding is the snow mode is just a software feature option in the MTS select button much like the dirt, sand and other options so I'd imagine that the LC's computer is programmed to adjust torque and setting for that purpose. I've only played a little bit with running my LC in hard packed dirt and some mild sand in those modes and could t really tell the driving difference, mainly because of the mild stuff I was in.

Not sure if this is any helpful information to your questions or curiosity.

Edit: I re-read the post and noticed that the snow thing is mentioned in the normal drive modes and not the MTS like I said. Maybe something did change with the recent 2035 build models or it is an actual software mode they are going to maybe push.? Could be also in select market areas get it?

I am curious as well if it will be something that can be updated or if only '25 models produced going forward will have it included.

So you all got my curious on the settings and I played around with my LC for a few minutes, attached are picture to align to what I found.

So Driving Mode has 3 setting: Eco, Normal, Sport.

MTS (Multi-Terrian Selection): Auto, Dirt, Sand, Mud, Deep Snow

Then there is the DRC/CRAWL button, that is its own system for downhill assist and crawl controls haven't personally used it yet but I have used crawl control in my Tacoma.

So maybe the 'Snow' mode is what they mean as Deep Snow possibly or it could be a whole new/different setting related to the actual drive modes that the 3 are there. Would be curious to see what an actual 2025+ model is if/when ones land at dealerships. My 2025 LC was built in 2024 and delivered end of December so it is not a 'true' 2025 model per day in that it was built in 2025. What I suspect from another post going on is with the release and shipment of the 6th gen 4Runner since the Tacoma, LC and 4Runner all share the same platform and most likely same parts such as the SDM and stuff there is a high chance Toyota wants to cut/minimize parts being installed on LC as the newer 4Runners are going to rely upon those same parts this the LC configs might change up for sometime.
Thanks for the interesting thread post, these are fun to read and chat about. Hope you land the LC that you want, I truly am really happy with mine and lucked out with a great configuration.

It is a running change. SDM was standard and it had a higher base price. SDM is now optional and the base price is lower. As long as a '25 LC without SDM isn't listed at the higher base price, there isn't false advertising.

Good point. Given the weakness on the low end configurations they may be trying to lower the entry prices. So the LC price is about the same as the GX therefore you might as well buy the Lexus tactic can be used on the new 4Runner prospects. Classic price ladder strategy encouraging buyers to reach for the next rung up.
